Dealer Category

Post by timge on Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:13 am

How about a dealer category with sub-categories for Wildcat dealer reviews and another for product reviews. The dealer category could be a place for dealers to announce themselves and offer discounts or special deals to members. The reviews section would allow members to give kudos to dealerships treating them well sunny and give us notice to those other types Crying or Very sad; allowing us to research with due diligence when preparing for our next purchase/service.

There can actually be quite a few expansions on this.

seperate catagory

Post by Admin on Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:51 pm

I'd really like to stay neutral on that topic. I've had my own interesting experience with a RV dealer and could do some serious bashing about their business ethics not the product they sell.

A seperate topic for dealers could turn really UGLY or it could be great Kudo's for them. And sometimes its just somebody wanting to vent their anger. It can be a touchy subject sometimes. I was trying to keep the board in the main direction of exchanging DIY / repair/ upgrades / Camping techniques , type of INFO.

If Someone wants to ask about a certain dealer they can do so at anytime. I'm sure they'll get some good answers from both sides of the fence. We seem to have buyers who've bought from local dealers and online dealers and from all parts of the USA and CAnada.

Dealer category

Post by timge on Mon Apr 21, 2008 1:17 pm

I realize that people can rant and rave, that's why I used the term due diligence. Nobody should rely on the information of one person, however if a certain dealer's name turns up multiple times from different people, buyer beware. I can also tell you that some manufacturers pay attention to that type of stuff; if they know they have a rogue or under performing dealer, they will pull their line from that dealer and work to get it to another dealer in the area.

Rules could be established for the standard of conduct within that category/forum. I am on several other forums where they do this and manage it very well. Moderators keep an eye on things and if it gets out of hand they post a warning and then if it continues they will lock the thread. Dealers offer some generous discounts to members on those boards. The boards have even banned several dealers who proved up to their reputations by their actions within the boards.

It was just something to think about.

I think we should stay officially neutral; stay away from this and ads. People can always post when they have good things to report.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse and I agree 100% on no annoying automatic ads. I will send a check to the site owners before I vote for ads but I am curious what category I would put my kudos in for someone who provided great service to me. Why is it we can review campgrounds and not dealers/service centers?

Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://www.elightbars.org/bb/for-sale-trade-emergency-warning-equipment-vf8.html
Of course you will have to register to view but it is quick registration and there are no automatic ads on this site. As you scroll down you will see several member names that are obviously dealers.

They list under Classifieds and use both stickies and dealers posting specials. Again they have banned several dealers who were spamming or who continuously had bad transactions. The moderators there keep a tight rein and will shut down a thread after one warning.

This is the link to the front pagehttp://www.elightbars.org/bb/index.php

and this is my last post on this subject. I'm really not trying to be a pain.
