Beginning of the jOurney

Post by Maxtor on Sun Apr 27, 2008 9:09 pm

The EZ-Flex is working perfectly. I really notice a difference.
Fallon did not have WiFi. So far the trip has been great. for those who want to know, fuel prices were, Fallon Nv. $4.159 Ely Nv. $4.199 Zion area $4.309
Since we have a 74 gallon in bed tank, and it was full when we left, the only place I stopped to get diesel was Fallon. I have enough now to go to Flagstaff, where fuel is cheaper.

We got on the road a little late, about 10:30 a.m. There was so much to do. We left Redding and went south on I-5 to hwy 36 in Red Bluff, then went east through Mineral, which had snowed the night before. All the trees, beautiful tall Pines were covered in snow. Once we passed Reno, it was very windy. We arrived in Fallon Nevada 305 miles later at Sage Valley RV Park. Wow,,, what a dump. we would not have been able to open our slide outs without hitting the next guy, so we went to Fallon RV Park, which was nice. Fuel was $3.159 We left Friday morning at about 9 a.m. and headed to Ely Nevada. The desert this time of year is very nice. Not to hot. We arrived at KOA of Ely at about 3 p.m. and the camp site was also very nice. After a good nights rest we were off at 8 a.m. to go to Bauers Ranch and rv campground. We took hwy 20 from Ely to hwy 89 in Utah. A very beautiful drve. I counted five cars that passed us in the opposite lane, in about a 50 mile streach. Most of the road was open range, so we had to dodge the cattle in the road. We arrived at Bauers at about 2:30 p.m. The people there were very nice, but the sites were not level, and to close together. There WiFi was not working very well and they did not have cell phone access, so we got back in the truck and headed toward Zion National Forrest. At the junction of hwy 89 and hwy 9 which leads to Zion, we found a nice campsite. Wifi works, cell phone works, nice restaurant, and full hookups. It is now 7:25 p.m. local time and we are going to the restaurant for some refreshment. Tomorrow we go up into Zion,, we will take more picutres.
Can't seem to upload pictures. Hmmm. I will work on it.

Day four, we took a trip up through Zion National Park. Very beautiful. If you go, leave your 5th wheel or trailer at Riverside RV park. The roads are narrow and winding, plus there is a tunnel that will limit coaches to 13ft 1inch. We took 74 pictures, but darn host an image wants me to join www.serving.com,,, and do not want to right now. Pictures will follow.
Tomorrow we are off to the Grand Canyon and more pictures. We are having a great time. thumbUp

Day 6

Post by Maxtor on Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:22 am

The road from Cameron AZ. to Flagstaff is a rough one. Thanks to the EZ-Flex, the WC road very nicely. I-40 to Gallup n.m. was a very windy ride. Our WC is moving around now as I type at the campground. We are staying in the USA RV PARK in Gallup. I am glad we got here early, because the campground is filling up. We plan on going out to dinner, and looking at the town. I filled up he main tank and the cost here is $4.089 per gallon. We are having a great time and plan on being in Santa Rosa N.M. tomorrow night. RVing is great...

Day 7

Post by Maxtor on Fri May 02, 2008 2:48 pm

Day seven was a blustery day, 53 mph winds. We are in Amarillo Tx. and will be here for the day. Our friends in Arlington Texas have an emergency, and they might not be able to see us. So we might go from here to Oklahoma City leaving here Saturday morning.

Day 8

We have been touring the town of Amarillo Texas, and have had a nice restful day. The restaurants here are very good. We will be leaving for Oklahoma City tomorrow morning. With all the wind we have had, the sky is clear and blue. The temperature has been very nice, and overall we are pleased with this area. The traffic is a bit much, for this country boy, but we will survive.

day 10 -17

Post by Maxtor on Sun May 04, 2008 6:49 pm

I got sick, so I am laying around here at Guthrie rv park moaning. I will post more when I feel better.

Day 11-17 was a nightmare. We got poisoned at a restaurant between Amarillo Texas, and Oklahoma City Oklahoma. We stayed in a campground in Guthrie Oklahoma until I was able to drive again. We next stopped at Pawhuska Oklahoma. I was getting worse, so I went to the hospital there. My wife and Luke also were sick. Day 17 I was able to drive to Branson Missouri, where we are now. I am 99% good, and the wife is about 85%. Luke is fine. We are all eating again, and keeping things down. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers. We don't want to go through that again....
We will be here until the 22nd, and off to Memphis and Nashville Tennessee. We are looking forward to seeing some shows here. We are camped a stones throw from Table Lake. There is a Wildcat about 500 ft. from us, and just as soon as he comes back to his WC, I will go say hi.
I will have more to add tomorrow, but we are getting ready to go out to eat for the first time in a week. Our anniversory was the 6th, and we were so sick, I could not take her out to dinner, so we will make up for it tonight.
Thanks again
Maxtor

Today Tuesday, 13th. we went to Branson and took in the Roy Rogers Jr. show. It was very good, and everyone thought that it was well worth the money. Very good music and showmanship. We also went out to dinner and had some very good steaks. Branson is a great town for music and shows. Tomorrow we go back and see more shows. I think we are going to see Bobby Vee and Fabian, plus 50's bands. Also another good steak house is on the schedule.
I'll let you know how everything goes.
