Winterizing Procedure

Tools & supplies

Phillips screwdriver
Small channel locks
1 1/16 6-point socket
Blow out plug
Air compressor
2 gallons anti-freeze
Water heater bypass installed
Water filter bypass installed [or extra anti-freeze to fill the filter housing (no filter)]


Winterizing Wildcat

Drain holding tanks, leave valves open
Drain water tank
Bypass water heater
Remove water heater drain/anode 1 1/16” socket, leave out
Blow water out of lines with air (40psi max), open each faucet cold & hot, in turn
Blow out black tank flush
Bypass water filter, remove old filter
Open faucets
Open low point drains, allow to drain
Close faucets
Close low point drains
Close holding tank valves
Close water tank drain
Use water pump winterizing intake kit, insert tube in antifreeze, pump on
Open each faucet cold then hot, in turn until antifreeze flows
*Kitchen sink, cold, hot
*Bath sink, cold, hot
*Shower, cold, hot
*Toilet
Make sure antifreeze fills each sink trap
Shut pump off
Close faucets
Open low point drains, verify antifreeze is present
Close low point drains
Wipe anti-freeze out of sinks
Sta-Bil generator, chain saw, etc.


De-Winterizing Wildcat

Using water pump winterizing kit, insert tube in fresh water
Pump several gallons through any faucet to clean out water pump
Normalize valve on water pump winterizing kit
Hook hose to city water with regulator, turn on
Open low point drains, run until clear, close low point drains
Begin running water through all faucets, cold & hot, until clear, run for 1 hour or more
Use clean-out spout to flush out water heater tank
Install water heater drain/anode, use Teflon tape, single wrap
Normalize water heater bypass, allow to fill
Install new water filter
Normalize water filter bypass
Flush & sanitize fresh water tank
Fill fresh water tank
