Son Just Graduated from Basic Training in Ft. Sill

Post by MaxRock on 10/20/2008, 10:39 am

On Friday, 10/17, my son graduated boot camp at Ft. Sill. We are so proud of him, he graduated Distinguished Honor Graduate, meaning he is the top graduate out of the 240 guys in his battery.

We were able to spend Thursday and Friday and a few hours on Saturday with him. He is now at Ft. Bliss in El Paso for his advanced Patriot Missile training. He will be there for 29 weeks.

A fine looking solider and your pride is most justified. Our young men and women who serve do not get enough thanks. Their efforts do not go un-noticed as I try to enjoy my freedoms each and every day. Please extend our families thanks to your son for serving.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We are proud of him, but miss him terribly.

Fortunately we are going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with him, pulling the Cat down to Ft. Bliss. He won't be home, but we will take a piece of home and bring it to him.

Mark,
How wonderful that your son finished boot camp with such high honors. That's certainly a reflection of his upbringing. We're sure he felt your great pride in him when he looked into your eyes when you visited him for his graduation. cheers

Mark

Congratulations on your son's performance at Ft. Sill. We, as you are very proud of his accomplishments.. Here is hoping Ft Bliss will be a great experience for him!

I hope you are able to stop at Carlsbad Caverns on the trip to El Paso. They are celebrating their 85th year and just dedicated a new visitor center Saturday. If you have not been there the caverns are a great experience. I believe in an earlier post you indicated you would be staying at Hueco Tanks. I think it is pretty nice from what I have heard--haven't had the opportunity to go there. Mission RV and Roadrunner RV are private parks on the east side of ElPaso that are closer to Ft Bliss if you need to come in closer. I have been by these and they look acceptable.

Hope the Southwest treats you to good weather. We would like some of it too as we will spend Thanksgiving in Phoenix area with our son and their family.
