Re: Pics from Ike
Amazing in one sentence and so sad in another. I will take my winter blizzards any day of the week.

Re: Pics from Ike
My older brother lives in Spring, about 20-30 miles north of Houston. Fortunately they didn't have any damage, but a lot of trees are down and they are still w/o power.
Two weeks ago, my Dad & oldest brother got hit by Gustav, they live about 20 miles west of Baton Rouge. They were w/o power for 7 days. I went and picked up my Dad to stay w/ us while everything was being put back together. He is anxious to get back home.

Well put together. That just about sums it up. We "hunkered down" in Pearland about 15 miles to the south of Houston. Miraculously, we had power in about 72 hours after we lost it Friday night. We were lucky too, our biggest casualty was storage shed and a fence. Our Wildcat was in the powered storage yard, covered, and escaped without a dent other than being without power for 6 days. Now I need to talk about generators but I'll hunt for that thread!

I will not complain as bitterly about the snow we get. (Although I will still complain!)

We hunkered down in our WC at Potter's Creek Park, on Canyon Lake (TX). The eye of Ike passed over our home town, Deer Park. We had missing shingles, and a fence down, on two sides. Neighbors called our cell, told us power was on, so we went home, the Monday, after Ike. *Potter's Creek is a Corps of Engineers park..... no charge for hurricane evacuees. Sincere thanks, Corps!
By the way, we could see the curvature of the storm, from our location, 207 miles from home. Debris is gone, now, but remnants of fences are appearing at the curb, as fences are replaced. Ike was a BAAD boy!
