Fall is almost here.

It's time to start making chili.

2 lbs. ground beef
1 medium onion chopped
1 lg. can of diced tomatoes
1 small can of tomato sauce
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
2 cloves of minced garlic
2 celery stalks chopped
1 green pepper, coarsely chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp Pepper
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp. chili powder
½ tsp. cayenne pepper or to taste

Brown the hamburger in a skillet and then drain the fat. Put the meat and all the other ingredients in a large stock pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and cook for one hour.

Option: After serving in a bowl, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

We are taking off for northern Michigan next week. Also a couple of trips in October. Chili has always been with us in the fall. Going to use your recipe this time.

Thanks for sharing it with us!.

Avid,

A week in northern michigan sounds great! How far north are you venturing?

where are you camping at in October? We will be at harbor town RV resort 3-5 and addison oaks 17-19 for some halloween camping with the kids.

Four nights camping and golfing in Mackinaw City. Then two night of the same at Hartwick Pines State Park, and the last two nights near Frankenmuth.

In October we will be going to Lake Huron Campground. It will be for a couple of weekends, not sure which ones yet. They had a special a few months ago. You could camp for the weekend, then leave your trailer on site for the week for free if you came back the next weekend to camp again. I hope they do that again in October.

OMG, I forgot an important part of the chili recipe. At the end of the meal pass out Gas-X tablets to all male members of your dinner group.

One variation you might try is use 1# ground sausage instead of some of the beef, makes for a very good taste. Nobody can really figure it out when they eat it, but they sure do like it.
