Wildcat Invasion!
I drove from Houston to Orlando on the 9th and 10th. Set the cruise control on 74 and locked it there. Didn't come across any Cat's on the way down. We stayed at the Wilderness Campground at Disney. I took a drive around the campground on the 12th and came across 3 Wildcat 32QBBS's. one from Florida in the 200 loop, one from Illinois in the 300 loop and another from Louisiana on it's way out of the camp ground. We were parked in the 1400 loop for the week. On the return drive this weekend, we drove past 3 more Cats, one on either side of Tallahassee, both heading East on I-10, and then finally one more pulled past us while we were filling up at a truck stop on the West side of the Atchafalaya swamp.
I have read pretty much all of the posts on this board, and read with interest the discussion on changing a tire, and the merits etc of the ramp system. There was some discussion about the weight distribution to the "good" wheel when lifting, so this might surprise a few of you... On this same trip, on I-10, I passed a truck pulling a Cardinal on the opposite side of the road from us, with only ONE WHEEL on the driver side (it is a dual axle rig). The other hub, quite plainly in view without the wheel. I am not sure if he had a strap around the axle to stop it dragging, but was very glad I was not on the same side of the road as him as he drove down the freeway!
The weather got nasty on the Saturday drive back and we were narrowly missed (by about 5 feet), by a truck coming at us from the opposite direction that lost control, 360'd (twice) across the median, and stopped just short of hitting us side on. I stopped in Mobile about 10 miles further - checked into a hotel for the night and drank a Jack Daniels (or 4 or 5) to our good fortune!

Re: Wildcat Invasion!
Fort Wilderness is a good place to go Cat Hunting.
there was 3 others there - that I saw, I didn't get a chance to ride through all the other loops on the upper end of the campground.
Glad you didn't get smacked from the side.

I'm glad to read that you didn't get hit by that out of control truck. That would have made me mess my shorts.

Re: Wildcat Invasion!
I was in a similar situation when a vehicle lost control and was coming through the median spinning out of control. The difference is I running solo and was able to slow down enough and let the car go across the lane in front of me...barely. Situations like these do make the pucker string draw up.
Glad you vacation and trip went well w/o any issues. Just think, you will remember that spinning truck incident and laugh about it years to come.
