St. Augustine , FL North Beach Camp Resort.

Post by Admin on 7/30/2008, 8:29 pm

Heres the link to North Beach camp resort : http://www.northbeachcamp.com/photos.html

Super nice camp ground with the beach on one end and the intercoastal water way on the other end.
North beach is on Vilano Beach 3 miles north of St. Augustine on Hwy A1A.
The pavement ends at the front office , from there its flat sandy roads that wind all through the campground.
Palmetto's grow between each camp site so you have plenty of privacy. On some of the older sites like #53 that we stayed in , The palmetto's were so thick you could barely see to the next site. The tree's Form a Tunnel over the main road which goes right through the middle of the campground. The site loops are on either side of the main road.
Free Wifi through out the camp ground, easily picked up inside your camper. Cable, and sewer hookup. Had a bad breaker on the power pole that kept kicking off, Called the front desk and the guy was there to replace it within minutes.
The Bath house was clean and nice, We were in one of the older loops. So it was a little dated, But clean.
There was a newer bath house on one of the newer sections by the river front, Didnt get a chance to check it out but it looked brand new. All the bath houses have Laundry rooms' on the side that are nice and clean. Game room in the main office downstairs , Had a bath house / laundry down there also. Small grocery store up stairs with just about anything you needed.
The pool was big, with a giant HOT Tub that was connected to the pool. Pretty neat. The campground was fairly busy with lots of kid's , But it was also quiet and layed back.
Heres some pic's of the main road and #53 camp site.

That looks like a great RV site your in. I gotta tell ya though, those overhanging branches on the road would have made me VERY nervous.

The branches are a lot taller than they look in the picture. Theres plenty of room. You'd have to stand up tall and straight on top of the camper to touch them.

Most of the camp sites are like the one we had, Some of the newer sites just have a thin growth of Palmetto's but it wouldn't take long for them to thicken up.

Hey Phillip,

Yes, it is a great CG. We were there over the Memorial Holiday. We had 4 families there (3 with rv's and 1 in a cabin). The cabins are really nice too. The whole place is well maintained and clean. Some of the group stayed only 3 days, and the rest of us a week. We're talking about doing it again next Memorial holiday. We were in sites 77, 78 and 79. Here's a pic of our sites and also one of the river at one end and the ocean at the other end of the CG.

Hi Phillip,

Glad you had a good time.

Your last picture looks like it could be right out of THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN story. Twisted Evil

It would be a cool place to hang out at Halloween for sure.

MrZ, I thought I remembered you saying ya'll were going there.

I was riding my Mountain bike up to the pool one day, and right at the last little cross road before you get to the pool, I stood up and was gonna spin the back tire in the soft sand , BAM- the chain broke and I busted my A$$ Big time right in front of a bunch of people. The wife was on the ground laughing like she was at the comedy club. My leg took the fall right on the Sprocket - Looked like a shark bite.
I'm always good for a good laugh. Maybe we'll try for next Memorial day also.

Hey Phillip,

I thought I was the only one that pulled those kind of stunts... Usually it happens in front of a crowd...allows for maximum impact! My wife is not a laugher, but I am. I would have been right there LMAO after I found out you were not to seriously hurt...just my demented sense of humor.

That's a beautiful park. We'll be in Florida in Sept/Oct. St Augusting would be a bit out of the way, but maybe we could go there for a day or two.

St. augustine is really a neat little city. If you do go , Eat at Santa Maria's down town on the pier. You can open a little trap door and feed the fish down below the pier, Its usually big schools of CatFish. Pretty neat, Good food. And of course walk the city from there.
