ford/chevy truck sticky throttle fix

Post by ffruff22 on 7/22/2008, 7:01 am

I found this arcticle while searching online regarding my need to add a quart between oil changes when driving a lot of highway miles. I have also had to clean my throttle plate every 10K, which is also related to this.

Its also known as the butterfly. Its the plate that blocks the intake and opens as you depress the throttle. In the link below, the throttle plate is open and you can see the black deposits that he is about to clean

I am not sure if this appllies to the diesel engines. the arcticle just refers to the 5.4L. Your throttle plate should be on the opposite end of the tube that comes from your air filter to the engine. You have to remove the tube to see it. In the photo I circled the wrong area, it is actually above the red circle and I cannot find the unaltered photo to fix it!
