Thanks TC, regarding acreage: We purchased the ranch 20 acres at a time until we had 100 acres that was contiguous when I was about 55 years old and in semi good health. It was also a dream of mine to live on a ranch. As we get older, living out from a city that has a good hospital is gambling. Our ranch was 45 miles from the nearest town. It was nice to be in the country during the spring, fall and summer, but the winters were brutal. The wife did not want to move full time to the ranch, so it had to go. It was a lot of work keeping up two places.

Thanks Phillip;

Tell your friend that we had a 1966 Ford Fairlane GT that originally came with a 390. I removed the 390 and put in a 427. Once the 427 was installed, the Fairlane was hard to beat. Another fun car we had was a 1970 Mustang Mach1 428scj. The Fairlane is what got me started building FE engines.

It seems that most of the people around here are waiting to see who the next president is before they buy anything. If Obama wins, they are talking AUSTRALIA....
Kalifornia is not looking to good now for young people trying to get ahead. Give it another few years and the average transportation here will be on a burro.

Si, Senor !!!! Here, Tulare County is 67% Spanish decent, both legal and illegal.... it is also the border line for the North/South gangs..... 8.1% unemployment nationwide? here it is 19%, being it is an agriculture area. When I go to WalMart, I feel like I am in TJ, lol!

Since we'll be leaving soon for our trip throughout the US, we will also be looking at another state to move to, since we dont have roots here now anymore..

I know exactly what you are experiencing. We lost California without firing a shot. We could loose the USA the same way. When we took our "around the USA trip" we found that everything east of Kansas was very humid, even in May and June. Us westerners are not used to that humidity. We are looking at Southern Oregon, or New Zealand. Everywhere you go has it's positives and negatives. Idaho and Wyoming are alluring, but cold as heck in the winter. Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, North and South Dakota all have potential. I would like Washington, but the wife insists on seeing the sun. Oh well...

P.S. Oldelmer1 told me that they are at 97% humidity today, and it is not even raining. affraid

Unfortunately, there is no perfect state. I thought Florida was perfect when I moved there 27 years ago. Moved out and to a cold winter state with no humidity. Didn't take me long to getting used to wearing clothing that you didn't have to peal off of you.

Maxtor: Check out the Smokie Mountains GA, NC, or TN you will be surprized with the weather and 99% are english speaking. I have lived all over the U.S. including Alaska and settled in the North Georgia Mountains for retirement even thought we still do a lot of traveling. I thought Colorado Springs, CO was Great when we got out here 7 months ago but just cann't get use to this WIND, I do a lot of walking and the sand blasting every day is no fun 5 1/2 more months and I will be heading EAST. By the way I grew up in Central Gulf Coast of Florida so I know about HUMIDITY. Jim
