No kudo's for bad service. McGeorge's RV, Va.

Post by Running Bare on 4/18/2012, 8:12 am

I didn't see anything for places with bad service. In the past, my wife and I have always purchased with Leo's RV in Crofton, Md. (Love them). When we finally decided to start shopping for a new 5er we decided to check out McGeorge's RV in Ashland, Va. We had seen it many times when traveling, and saw how big the place was, not to mention, they were loaded with 5ers. We decided to drop in one weekend to see what they have, and start getting an education on what to expect. At this point we didn't even have our truck, since we didn't know how big we were going to go. As soon as we walked into the showroom we were greeted by a very friendly salesman who was more then happy to help us out.....until..... Once I informed him that we were not prepared to buy, we were only shopping, the "friendly salesman" ended there. His whole attitude towards us changed. We were rushed into the lot, the salesman even walked about 10 steps ahead of us, basically avoiding us, showed us one new model, two used models, took us back in the showroom, handed us a brochure for their up-coming show, and sent us out the door. I have been to lots of dealerships, and looked at lots of rigs, and never once was I treated as rudely as I was at McGeorge's Rolling Hills RV. I have no idea what kind of dealership they are, or what kind of service they give to others, but based on how I was treated, they will never get my money. Two months later, and we have our new Cat. Thank you Economy RV in Mechanicsville Maryland.

That was a poor attitude on the salesman's part. They should consider EVERYBODY who comes in to be a potential customer - no matter what the person says. How many people are "just looking" and leave being proud owners of a car/truck/trailer/boat or whatever else they weren't really looking for.

Glad you found a dealer who was interested in serving you.

Thats just the point. If the guy would have taken a little time with us, we would have been buyers. Treating my wife and I like that, they have lost a customer for life. Sadly though, companies like that just don't care.

Friends of ours don't have much good to say about them either. They bought from them and then had major issues with their service department.

Send the salesman a copy of your post and responses. Maybe it will open his eyes. Some people get into sales because they think it is an easy way to make big money. It is the opposite, everyone is a potential customer.

McGeorge will not let you look inside any of their RVs with out a Saleperson with you. They want to know what Type and size RV you are looking for and will only show a couple of units to you. They are very pushey. The first thing they want from you is you SSN so they can run a credit report. Each time a Credit report is run it lowers your credit score.

Wow ,,, thats incredible.

what if you were going to pay cash ? or finance somewhere else,,, local credit union, personal bank,,,,, your credit score wouldn't be any of their business. I'd walk right out my self if my SSN was the first thing they asked me for........

I have had the situation where the salesman says " do you have a SS number'? I answer "yep". "May I have it"? NOPE That normally ends the conversation. I agree with Phillip, I tell him, in that situation that I normally pay cash.

I told them do not worry about the financing. They still wanted My SSN. That is when we walked out. The saleslady ask if I had a cell phone. I asked Why . She said I would be calling Her Back. I said don't hold your breath.

It never ceases to amaze me how, in this economy, some people think that they are doing you a favor. I have only had that happen at a boat show when I wanted to get on and look at a $10,000,000.00 yacht. The funny thing was that I still got on the yacht. The broker apologized to me for upsetting me. That is the difference between a pro and a hack.
