Strange Things Happen
We went to Walmart today (Sunday) for our last shopping trip before we leave on vacation. We usually start on the Pharmacy side and work our way towards groceries. Scruffy noticed that some of our spotlights on the back of the house were burned out, so he went to the back of the store and picked up a box of 4 spots. Then we got to the grocery section and filled our cart. Occasionally he shifted the light bulbs around a bit to make sure they didn't get smashed.
When we were checking out, Scruffy was unloading the cart and he started looking around. He looked at me and asked if I unloaded the spotlights. No. We both looked carefully at the conveyor belt and inside the cart. No spotlights. We figure somebody saw them and realized they needed some and didn't want to walk all the way to the other side of the store...... so he or she lifted them. Now, Scruffy and I thought we were real good at keeping an eye on the cart, but somehow, somebody got our spotlights. It wasn't a matter of carts getting mixed up - everything else in the cart was ours, and placed in it the way I always do - little things in the basket (fish oil gels, vitamins, toothpaste and toothbrush, socks, etc.). Since the checker was barely started with a huge load in front of us, and we still had a lot of stuff in our cart, Scruffy went to the back of the store and got another package of spotlights, and I finished unloading the cart. I KNOW we didn't have a joint senior moment. Sure was weird. I checked my purse to be sure everything was still in it - wallet, keys - all there.

Re: Strange Things Happen
I've heard of kids putting thing into peoples carts, but never taking things out.
When you say"little things in the basket (fish oil gels, vitamins, toothpaste and toothbrush, socks, etc.). " do you mean in the child seat? We saw a TV program that tested the child seat for bacteria and there was HUGE amounts of bacteria and POO on the child seat.
We never us the seat for anything......

I never thought of poop all over the seat! I put most of my food items in there! Won't be using the seat anymore.

Re: Strange Things Happen
We don't put food in the child seat, but we do put other stuff in there. And we HAVE thought about the Peep and Poop and germs. They are everywhere. Do you scoot your chair up to the table in a restaurant? Where do you put your hands? I put mine under the seat where thousands of other people put theirs-and stick their gum - I hope they washed their hands. That menu must pick up all sorts of contamination, and it's the last thing I touch before eating - and if we eat at a buffet, every serving utensil is contaminated too. Usually I have a hand cleaner that I use before touching my food. When you go to the doctor do you have to sign in or do you tell the receptionist who you are? Around here, everyone has to sign in. So, people who are sick have used that pen. I figure we live with all sorts of germs/bacteria, and we develope a resistance to it. If we over protect ourselves, we lose that resistance.
The floor of our car must be contaminated with all sorts of horrors that get tracked in on my shoes - I have a bad habit of putting my purse on the floor - in restaurants, too. I seem to remember that retired2's wife, Glenda, had a neat little hook that rested on the table top and she put her purse on that (something like a Christmas stocking holder that sits on a mantle)..... I thought that was clever, and if I see one sometime, I might get it - although a lot of my purses are too small to carry even that very slim hook.
I've seen purses sitting on the floor in bathroom stalls - yuck! Peep, poop and vomit!
So, everyone, we haven't had a lot of activity here in the forum during the non-camping season - got any germy places I should be aware of?

Glenda still uses her "skyhook" for her purse. She just doesn't like it on the floor under her feet and it works pretty well. When carrying a larger purse, the problem is finding it in the bottom of the purse.

Re: Strange Things Happen
It's been a long time since I've used a purse big enough to lose things in - but I remember those days well. I'd wind up dumping everything out on a table sometimes.

Re: Strange Things Happen
My sister has a little shop that carrys those pocket book hooks.
I picked one up and thought it was something else and she had to give me the full demo on how it works , and the one's she has are like a little piece of art that doesn't look like its supposed to hold a pocket book.
I use those hand baskets when I shoot through the grocery store. I think of all the raw steak blood that goes in those things. Yuk,
