Back in Anchorage it was: -9F/+3F for the low/high at the airport.
http://www.adn.com/news/weather/

Here in Lake Havasu City it was: +47F/+75F at an amateur station a few miles away and a higher elevation. Although our elcheapo thermometer showed +36F one morning last month.

nice blog. They are fun and so many people can keep up with your travels. Since I don't see Florida marked off your map, come down sometime and we can do lunch or dinner. We are in Port Orange, the south part of Daytona Beach right off I95.

Tom,
We hope to get there someday, we've tried a few times, but we get into S.C. or Georgia and just enjoy those areas so much, that we don't go any lower. Last year we got to St. Marys, GA, which I think is just a few miles north of Florida, but still didn't go over the border.

Maxtor,
BRAGGER, BRAGGER, BRAGGER.... lol....

Darn Maxtor....you got me beat by 1 degree !! and we even had zero visibility fog here this morning until noon, then the sun peaked out sunny and temps went up....beautiful day..hard to think it is January. Course we've had ZERO inches of rain in 2 months, which isnt helping.

John,,, you are right. Looks like this year is setting up for a drought. I think we are less then 50% of normal rain fall. We could sure use the rain,,, but it is nice to be out cruising eating ice cream.

Well, I opened my mouth too soon, woke up to a good 1/4 inch of snow everywhere. Although the sun is now out and most of it is melted away.

John & Maxtor, we had 23 inches of excess rain in 2011. No drought here.

Jim,

Yeah, we consider 4*F to be only cool. I'm wondering where 20*F below has gone.

This has been the craziest winter that I can remember since moving here 32 years ago. The temperature swings have been incredible. 4*F in the morning one day and 60*F in the afternoon the next. And no snow. WOW!

Obama won't let a oil pipeline come in from Canada, maybe he would let them build a water pipeline from Maryland to California..

Probably not,,, It would create a job or two.

Some time ago - probably last summer and fall when everything in Texas dried up, Scruffy and I discussed the necessity of water pipelines all across the U.S. Water is more important to our survival than petroleum products. Gas and oil make things easier, water gives us life. Unfortunately, it would never happen.

Friday it got up to around 71, but then a cold front came in. We had a good rain last night (about 1.25 inches) and there is supposed to be more. We'll take all we can get. It should be out of here sometime tomorrow, and Wednesday morning when we head southeast, it should be dry.
