Winegard Satellite Mounts

Post by TLC on 12/23/2011, 3:47 am

Does anyone have any experience mounting their Winegard Satellite Dome to a ladder mount. I have asked Santa for a ladder mount for Christmas and I am planning to mount ours to the ladder semi-permanently. Has anyone done this? I have contacted Winegard and they told me that this is what they are designed for and will hold up fine while traveling over the road. I plan to attach a lead-in system down the ladder with tie wraps and carry an extra line system if it has to be moved because of trees, etc. The DW purchase the dish after camping season and we haven't used it yet but we were tired of constantly setting up a portable dish all the time.

So far ours has held up well we put it on last April. I checked it the first couple of trips and had to re-tighten the bolts only once. I had to drill a new hole to mount the dome, because of the way the mount sat on the ladder, this allowed me to put the small holding screw into the dome. We traveled with the dome attached on several trips without problem. I do remove the dome for storage.

I have the wires run down the ladder I put an all-weather 12 volt power supply at the back bumper and shortened the power supply wire to fit correctly. I also have a male cable connection at the bottom of of the ladder and just run a short wire to the sat in on the cat. (This spring going to run it to the entertainment center area, so I can switch from sat to cable for local channels)

The only thing I will say is, 200 channels and still nothing on !!!!

Thanks Rich for for the input. I have also done some "re-plumbing" in preparation for its' use by running a separate line to the bedroom and a twelve volt power supply inside the outside compartment for all the hook-ups. I am also planning on running a separate line to the entertainment center so i will have my choice of use either satellite or antenna. I plan on using mine as you describe your use so it's good to know that it is durable. Thanks!
