What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
As the topic says, it would be interesting to know what ideas are out there on ways to secure the flat screen television while traveling down some of these rough roads.

We take it down and put it on the bed. We've read that they shouldn't be stored in a horizontal position, but so far, no problems.

Eye hooks and bungee cords. Lap blanket wrapped around the TV for protection.

Were looking at getting a flat screen for the bedroom in our new Cat. I wonder if it would be good to look for one of the TVs made especially for RVs? Supposed to be made to withstand the bumpy rides better. I think Jensen makes one.

We've been down some awfully rough and washboardy roads, not to mention lots'a chuck holes and speed bumps, and our LCD is still working just fine. Based on my experience, I don't think its an issue to be concerned over.

For the TV in the bedroom, I have it mounted on the wall with a tilt and swivel mount and for traveling I use one of the straps that was used to tie down the chairs sofar everything is still working fine, the one in the living room just goes down in its hole till we get to where we are going then we let it out

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
Mine mounts on the wall. I use to take it off and store it under the bed when traveling, got old fast. I just leave it on the wall. Been on some really bad roads and it stays on the wall. I only take if off for winter storage, which than it comes in the house. Been leaving it on the wall the past 3 years.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
Thanks for all the posts... We purchased a 32 inch Samsung flat screen because that was the largest tv that would fit in our tv cabinet. A pillow front and back along with tie downs might work best. I could bolt the pedestal to the floor of the cabinet, but it would be a pain to connect the different connections to the satellite, blue ray player, campground cable, and Concertone. The tv pretty well fills up the cabinet. Moving it from the bed to the cabinet and back would get old fast. The satellite receiver and blue ray player use HDMI connections, while the campground and satellite antenna use coax, and the Concertone uses composite connections. So the only true HD connections will come from the blue ray player and the programs stored in the satellite receiver that was copied in HD, and also on the external hard drive hooked up to the satellite receiver via usb. It holds 2 TB of movies.
This might be overkill, because we have found out that most of the time, we are to busy to watch tv when traveling, but it is nice to have just in case.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
The main inconvenience for me is that sometimes when we stop for lunch, or I am having back pain, I lay down on the bed. Everything on the bed then needs to be moved. Not a big problem, just and inconvenience. I will need to remember to keep the screen side down, because everywhere I go, Luke "our dog", is by my side, and a paw through the screen would not be good.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
The 1960 Falcon has a 434 ci. big block Ford FE with nitrous. 850 hp. It has a c6 trans with 9inch differential with 4.11 gears and a spool. All MSD ignition. For the big block to fit, the shock towers were removed and a straight axle installed, ala 1960's gassers. Full roll cage and fuel cell added. Disc brakes help the thing stop.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
IMHO I think the straight axle just makes them ol'gals look fast.
Did you need a shoehorn to get that big block in there.
Beautiful ride.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
No,,, with the shock towers out and the straight axle in, there is a ton of room to put about anything in. I don't have any recent pictures, so I will have to take some and post one.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
For my 32" flat screen in the living area, I used 2 pieces of 3/4 x 1/8 flat stock to make brackets to bolt to the back of the T.V. down on an angle and bolted to the turn table. The stand is also screwed down to the turn table. I also pinned the slide track so it can not slide in and out while travelling. The 19"er we simply just lay it flat on it's face in the bedroom cubby hole.

Nothing real fancy. You can also see the pinned slide which requires drilling through the two metal slides.

Re: What is everyone using to secure flat screen tv while traveling?
We too have a 32inch, that fits the cabinet. I use 2 hand woodworking clamps to attach a board across the cabinet opening, about half way up the cabinet, then place a sofa pillow in front and back of the TV. Seems to work fine in for us.
