Mojave Desert, CA .. N/O California City

Post by John&ConnieNeeley on 11/26/2011, 7:50 am

This past week, Turkey week, we spent the time boondocking in the Mojave Desert, north of California City. Most of the week was beautiful..sunny and no wind... here is a picture of our setup with the 313RE and the second pix is of the whole camp. This is out in a bare spot amongst the Asbestos bushes.

How did the Buddiepole work for you on this trip? Did you see how they did the Delta loop on the yahoo web site. I read your post also and enjoyed it very much. I set mine up in the back yard at times just to keep myself up-to-date and try other settings.

Hi Ken, and the Buddipole worked great for me, both in the dipole configuration and also the Versatee vertical config... I worked Japan on the vertical, infact got a QSL card from him yesterday. All work was on 10Meters, due to RFI from RV Inverters and AC Generators of the other folks out there in the circle... Those Inverters put out so much "hash" it is unbelievable.

Yes, saw Steve, The GoatMan did a modification make a Delta Loop out of his Buddipole setup. I met him in Colorado Springs this past July at the Hamfest, and little, whirlwind of a guy....always moving.... got to meet the goats, P & R too... cant believe how big Rooster is compared to Peanut..

What is your call???

Greenwithenvy Looks like a great Thanksgiving week camp, even though I am happy to be with family here in the East, I can not wait to get back to the wide open spaces available in the West.

Hi John. My call is AJ4XL and love to watch the U Tube of P&R the goats. I showed them to my g-kids and they got a big kick out of them. I will be at the Ham Fest in Orlando this Feb. It is always a good one to visit and just see old friends from the Ham Radio. I was thinking about the hash from the inverters and would be nice to seal them up some way.
