CALLING Wildcat Chris! HELPPPP?

Post by Minty on 11/21/2011, 9:14 am

I am not sure how you can help but I am need of warranty from Rod Batts. I have emailed him my info and there was a problem with the seller of the unit that never gave him the right info. So I am on Month 17 of my 24 month warranty of which we had paid money for the second year. I have not had any luck getting in touch with some one to repair my rig. I need to get it to a warranty depot soon before we get any more snow..

Can you please help me out ...

Good luck... I've E-Mailed Forest River over a dozen times, called them and left messages... All with no replies.

My brother in law bought a brand new Wildcat at a camping show last year and shortly after that the dealer he purchased it from went out of buisness. He had some issues (some minor, but one was fairly serious) with the trailer and tried to contact Forest River directly with no luck. This is on a trailer that is 10 Months old now. Several E-Mails unanswered.

I feel your pain on not being able to get in direct contact with Forest River. At a minimum a family spends around $30,000.00 on a product that they believe is a quality and reliable asset to the family to enjoy for years. But when you have trouble and try to contact the company...no answers. It is like you are on your own. Could you only imagine if this website did not exist for some help. Just as a comparison, go to most of the big manufactures websites. You will notice some contact information. Forest River doesn't even post a phone number. It is like they are trying to hide. So in the back of your mind, what does that tell you about a company? Customer service or standing behind their products is not any of their concern, only sales. What are you going to do after the sale? Take it back for a refund like at Walmart, no, you are stuck.
Just don't give up, and with the great people on this website, they will provide you Forest Rivers contact information. But when you make another RV purchase, remember where the customer service is at. Most of the dealerships that sell different manufactures, will tell which stands behind their products. I'm not being negative, because we really like our WC, but when it comes time to trade, unfortunately, I will have to move on.

James: I have owned a lot of RV's from different MFG's over the last 45 years and and from my experience Forest River is not much different from the others. As you can see by my signature I have moved on but still have had problems as the dealer I purchased from went out of business so when warranty work is needed the New Dealer I'm working with seems to put meon the back burner behind the customers he sold units to. You just have to keep after them until you get results. Just wished I could find a Forum like this for Keystone. This is the Number One Forum for RV Onwers. Jim

Just to add some more info to consider / give another perspective. While we had our Wildcat, our dealer and Forest River worked very hard to take care of several issues we had and we bought it used. We were very pleased with Customer Service, alot may have had to do with the local dealer (Shady Pines in Texarkana). We decided it was time to trade up due to wall delamination and we just weren't happy with the current Wildcat's at the time. We ended up with a Cameo by Carriage. Some argue that this is the best 5th wheel made by the best company in the business. They went out of business in mid October, so now I have a very expensive 5th wheel with 4 years left on a now useless 5 year warranty.

They have been very good up till now about repaying me for the few minor issues I have had as they do not rely on a dealership network and I have to find somebody that they will approve to work on them (and pay out of pocket). I lucked into a mobile repair person here in Ashdown that used to be in charge of the service department at the local Carriage dealer back when we had one (3 years ago), now my closest dealer is 3 hours away and they do not have an indoor area to work on campers of this size. Also, Carriage doesn't warranty any items in the camper, they put you in touch with the manufacturer of said items (radio, micro, fridge, tires, wheels, etc....).

You can bet your dealer played a big part on taking care of you when you had your Wildcat. I know first hand Rod Batts wouldn't help me at all and I purchased my unit brand new. I am trading it in a few months from now and will not be purchasing a Forest River product. I would have if they would have provided me good customer service. Good luck on your new trailer.

burgere,
I've never had to deal with Rod Batts on any level, and I've read both good and bad about him.

Did Rod offer ANY kind of help? This gives me a lot of concern because I thought if we had any problems with our getting-older-by-the-minute Wildcat, he would be the one to contact to get good results.

Tater

No he just told me they wouldn't do anything for me because it was out of its one year warranty. My dealer said it was normal for Wildcats to have bubbles in the sides and showed me new ones with the bubbles. I would later find out its delamination not just bubbles. They know there is an issue but will not take care of it.

Now it looks as my roof is coming unglued. Its suppose to have a 12 year warranty so I once again have to contact him FR.
