Fort Wilderness - False Alarm Maybe
We took our free drink mugs to the Meadows Trading Post to get some coffee for Scruffy and hot chocolate for me. While we were in there joking around with the CMs, a park ranger came in and asked if someone had tripped the fire alarm. Nope. So he decided it must have been at the Settlement. He went out, and we followed him. A park security car was outside with red lights flashing. He asked the park ranger, and they left to go to the Settlement. As we were leaving, I asked Scruffy if we should go to the deer watching place or go see if the Settlement was burning down. We decided on the Settlement. We got to the cart path that goes to the Settlement, and could see flashing lights up ahead. So, we drove through loop 100, knowing we could see better from there. We found out when we arrived at Fort Wilderness a week ago that the cart path from loop 100 to the Settlement had been closed, but we could see the Trading post from the loop. There was a fire truck, and several security cars around the Trading Post. As we were leaving loop 100, an ambulance was turning around - they must have turned into loop 100 by mistake. They turned towards the bus stop, and turned off their flashing lights. We knew then that the emergency was over. The emergency vehicles were leaving, and I guess it was a false alarm. We are settled in at the trailer now, and don't plan on going down to watch fireworks tonight, so the explanation will have to wait until another day. Maybe Eric will know something, he is camped near the Settlement.
