Thanks for the update. As a veteran, we always foget about the offers when they come up. My wife seems to remember more than I do. I guess spending all that time in Iraq, sometimes I feel that I was just doing a job. Kind of a dangerous job, but most people would fight for their country, if asked. I just remember the old timers from prior Wars that really had it rough. Iraq was no picnic, but the WW Wars and Vietnam War were worse. And I lift my hat to all those special folks. If it was not for veterans, we wouldn't be able to own our WildCats, go camping, spend time outdoors with our family, and still be able to gripe about our propane heater quit working (LOL). Got to love America. Thank you for my freedom Veterans!! thanks

Thanks to all our veterans. wavesmilys

And thanks to you, Ed, for the link. I sent it on to my son who is a retired (25 yrs) Marine. He's been getting 10% off at Home Depot for a long time, any time of the year - all he has to do is mention it. They didn't advertise it, I guess it got around by word-of-mouth.

True. And Home Depot does this as well. Many other places will give a veteran or military discount as well if you just ask. Especially in military oriented places like San Antonio, TX.

As I understand the all-year 10% discount at HD, it's only available to active duty and retired military. They have to show their military ID card when they make the purchase to get it. Otherwise, us vets have to wait until Veterans Day.

Veterans Day replaced Armistice Day on May 26, 1954 when then President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the change of name into law. Previous to that, it was known as Armistice Day, as way to honor the veterans of the "War To End All Wars". The armistice was signed on November 11, 1918. A movement began in the early 1950's in Emporia, KS, of all places to honor all veterans on that date.

Also, remember that the Marine Corp birthday is celebrated on November 10th. The Continental Marines were formed on November 10, 1775. They'll be celebrating their 236th birthday this year.

Yes, this is actually correct. At both Lowe's and Home Depot this is the case.
