Atmospheric Check Valve

Post by jsk on 10/30/2011, 1:08 am

I found a crack in the threads that was just starting to leak. I ordered another one and installed using teflon tape. When I tested the flush system it vibrates very bad but still works. Have I missed something in installation or possibly have a faulty valve? I am afraid the violent shaking is going to cause soemthing else to fail.

It is used on the black tank Flush on mine it is in the wall in front of the toilet. It is usually is mounted higher than the top of the toilet and keeps water from siphoning from the Black water tank into your water system when pressure is lost.

Mine would make lots of noise depending on the water pressure. I removed mine and installed a check valve as the oem ones are problematic and prone to leaking. I used a city water connection with a built in check valve. You can also put the check valve inline anywhere or where the oem one is. There are posts of this but I'm on mobile so can't easliy find, copy and paste the links. I'll post the links tonight.

Also known as a backflow preventer.

Here is what I replaced the cheap plastic one that came with the trailer:

Present valve:

Mine was doing the same thing banging when I attempted to use the wash out system. After replacing it with this valve the system works perfect. I believe the valve is a Camco brand.

The original did not vibrate at all - just wondering why the new one is violent sounding.

The oem checkvalve on my 2006, 29RLBS was packed with sawdust and other construction debrie. Once I cleaned it out and exercised the spring a couple of times, it worked perfectly, and continues too.
