MS - Ocean Springs - Davis Bayou - Gulf Islands National Seashore
Davis Bayou is a small campground on a salt marsh off the Gulf of Mexico. It has 52 sites and 2 of them are wheelchair accessible, and there is also a group campground. The campground has electric and water hookups, and a dumping station. The comfort station has showers and toilets. There is also a boat dock and a picnic area. The Gulf Island National Seashore is comprised of areas in MS and FL. Davis Bayou is located on the eastern edge of Ocean Springs, MS, and is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. There is a visitor center associated with Gulf Islands National Seashore. Nightly fee is $16.00 per night, and has a 50% discount for Golden Age or Golden Access members. Payment is on the honor plan.
We arrived at the campground around 2pm. The park was more than half filled, but we found a nice site that was long enough for our trailer. We watched more camping units pull in, and soon the park was filled.... except for a very short site across from ours. It would be perfect for a Class B, pop-up, or tent campers.
We went into town and had dinner at Aunt Jenny's Catfish restaurant. One of our favorites when we lived in nearby Gulfport.

The view from our door.

Visitor Center.

Parking lot at the boat dock - ramp is just to the right of the cars parked there.

A view of the bayou.

The campground host said that when the snowbirds are down here, the park stays full. Even though there is a 14 day length of stay limit, and a 30 day per year limit, the snowbirds like to stay here awhile and move on. Can't beat the price.
