Installation Electric Code For Water Heater
Does anyone know what the electric code for installing the electric for a Suburban water heater? Can you just wire the water heater to the nearest plug or does it half to be run to its own circuit?

My last 3 RV's had the water heater on its own circuit.

I don't know if there is a building code for RV's. Might be one used by the RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Assoc.).
However, it wouldn't be code that determined the circuiting, it would be the watts used by the heater when it's running. My trailers away for the winter, but it's either a 15A or 20A, 120VAC circuit with nothing else on it. That heaters gotta be using some amps when it's working.

When I discussed it with the RV Tech at the dealership he indicated a dedicated circuit had to be run from the fuse panel to the electric water heater. My fuse panel has two vacant slots one for the second air and one for elect water heater.
