Replacing Converter - Question
My Parallax 7155 has quit (you can see my other thread on that). I have a Progressive Dynamics (INTELI-POWER) 4655 to replace it. Most of the stuff i've read recommends this upgrade to the converter because it has more efficient charging modes and will charge my battery quicker and lengthen battery life.
I have a question for anyone who has done this. It came with a new board to replace the DC circuits. Basically it has a button on it to let me override the "Charge Wizard" and set the modes myself. Until I had these problems I never touched my converter and I can't imagine a reason why I would override the boards automatic charging modes.
Has anyone done this swap? Any advice on pro/con of putting this board in?

Re: Replacing Converter - Question
I had a charge wizard on my last TT. I could change charge modes if needed, but I thought it did a great job all by itself. Never touched, just let it do its thing.

Re: Replacing Converter - Question
Well, I got my converter installed. Everything seems to have gone pretty well. The job wasn't terribly difficult, although the directions were a little different for my 32QBBS.
Two things were different. The instructions told me to remove the converter from its enclosure, but the enclosure fit perfectly where the old one was removed. The holes on one side to feed the cables to the power center didn't line up perfectly to feed the wires so nothing is rubbing.
Also, my wildcat had a weird "splice". The hot wire from the converter joins another mystery hot wire from the wiring harness with a wire nut. Then the line is cut, stripped, and spliced into some kind of t-connector which is fed up into the breaker. It's almost like the converter is sharing the breaker with something else. I actually emailed FR about what this, waiting to hear back.
I did replace the DC board but my green indicator light isn't blinking. The guy at progressive dynamics said to check the small four pin connector to see if it matches correctly, I haven't done that either.
However, all my other problems are gone. No more flickering, heater is working, I assume battery is charging but I'll verify with my meter. All in all it wasn't too bad.
