Colorado to North Carolina
Here is a report of our most recent move, we left Loveland Co. on Oct 8th in a slight cold rain, we proceeded down I-25 south and took Hwy 52 East to Hwy 79 South in order to bypass Denver. After about 10 miles on Hwy 52 I noticed the rain had more of a consistency than before, then shortly noticed vehicle going in the opposite direction had snow on them, shortly we were in blowing snow with it sticking in the fields along the road, ran in this across Hwy 52 then south on Hwy 79, snow stopped just before getting on on I-70 East, when we stopped at the Flying J at Limon the winds were very strong so we stopped for the night. Before the trip was over we traveled with temps as low as 30 degrees and the high was 80 when we got to North Carolina.
Day 2 saw us on I-70 East as far as WaKeeney Ks.
Day 3 we stayed on I-70 East to Hwy 135 and took it south to just before Wichita and turned East on Hwy 254/54 and spent the night in Iola Ks.
Day 4 we continued on Hwy 54 to Nevada Mo. and took Hwy 71 South to Joplin where we again turned East on I-44 to Springfield where we picked up Hwy 60 East across southern Mo stopping at Ozark Mountain Springs RV Park which was so nice and economical we stayed for two nights.
Day 6 found us still on Hwy 60 taking it all the way to Paducah Ky where we stayed the night in Calvert City Ky on I-24.
Day 7 found us down in Crossville Tenn on I-40 east.
Day 8 Because our reservations at destination wasn't until the Oct 16th we stopped and spent the night in Statesville NC still on I-40.
Day 9 we drove the last 130 miles to the campground we plan on staying at til January
All total it was 1,759.2 miles, burned 177.38 gal of diesel for a average price of $3.65 per gal and averaged 9.92 miles per gallon hand calculated. At the last fuel stop there was a guy with a Bluebird pushers fueling up next to me and we got to talking and he asked what kind of mileage I got and told him usually between 8.5 and 10, he said he would like to get that good of mileage, when our pumps stopped, I told him mine is $50.00 what's yours, said his was $400.00
and that he didn't fill it up because they were only going out for a few days..............................
Truck and Wildcat did great, it didn't even complain when I took it thru the "drive thru" at Kentucky Fried Chicken................
Take care and safe travels.

That was quite a trip. Glad you got through the snow without any mishaps. This "drive thru" at KFC sounds interesting.
Have a good time in NC. Have you stayed at that campground before? Where to after January?

Re: Colorado to North Carolina
We are at Spring Hill RV Park Chapel Hill NC, it is the only park in Chapel Hill, before we stayed at a park in Durham NC but this one got good reviews, it is very wooded and quiet, probably 8 or 10 miles out of Chapel Hill, good size park with somewhere around 60 sites but stays pretty full year round. $400.00 month including utilities, wifi and cable. The only noise is the acorns falling on the roof of the camper which sometimes sounds like a fire cracker going off.
Tater we were up in Tenn. and my wife wanted some KFC for supper so I saw it advertised at a exit and jumped off the interstate onto a busy street, went down to the KFC looking for parking on either side of the street to no avail, took a left at street where the KFC was then a left into the back of the parking lot where the drive thru was ( it was the only place where I could get the rig off the street) initially when I pulled in I thought how am I going to get out of here, and thought about backing up enough to turn and go thru the parking lot full of cars and back to the street. Went inside and got my order, came out and had to move a trash barrel to get a wide enough swing to avoid the pole sticking out from the drive thru that said "low clearance" then stayed along the curb where the drive thru widens out so people can wait on their order, and up to the street to head back to the interstate, did notice some looks from folks inside the KFC as we pulled by.

Wow! Sounds like some expert maneuvering. Glad you got out of that situation without any damage.
So, how was the food? The KFC where we lived reopened, and we were thrilled. We went there and decided the cook had his/her own idea about what kind of seasonings to use. We never went back, and it closed about a month ago.

Re: Colorado to North Carolina
Ours was fine, haven't ever got any bad KFC
but I am sure there are places out there that can ruin a good thing.
