Goblin Valley Camping

Post by bradybr on 10/12/2011, 6:53 am

Hey, Tim. Very nice to hear from you! Lebanon, eh? Is that the place that puts out that good tasting Lebanon bologna? Great stuff! Anyway, I do very much enjoy Goblin Valley. They have restroom facilities that are pretty nice which includes showers. There is RV and tent camping. If you like hiking, photography, biking, or just playing nursing home, you'll enjoy this place. There is a right time of the year to visit this place because of the heat in summer, but nevertheless, it's nice to visit. Here is a link that might give you a better idea:

http://www.utah.com/stateparks/goblin_valley.htm

Click on the "ReserveAmerica" link under camping reservations to get even more info.

Thanks for asking,

Bob

Howdy, Tim. I responded to this post under your original location before it was moved here. Hopefully, my response will be moved here too, but I thought I'd just let you know.

Hi Bob....no i didn't see your other post there...

But thanks...

we hit some Colorado CG's and then Page Arizona and lake Powell...after we leave AZ, we have been staying in Moab the last couple years... I want to change things up a little next year and look for some new spots...

I was just a kid when I lived in Bountiful, so I really dont know much of the area other than what I have rediscovered over the last 7 years

Howdy,

Looks like Admin is on the ball and gets things done quickly. My post from yesterday was moved to here.

BTW, I'm sure if you saw Bountiful you'd be amazed at how it has grown and changed! I'm just north up the road in Farmington.

I heard Bountiful has changed ALOT... when we were at Lake Powell this summer we were camped next to a couple with FIVE kids that were from Farmington...they had a fifth wheel that they towed a jetski behind...

we laughed cause the oldest daughter was griping about the long trip from Page Arizona to home...I pulled out my USA atlas and pointed... ok we are here, you have to go here... and we have to go heeeeeeeeeeeeer........They were great people! hope we see them again next year. we also have friends that we meet in Page from Roy....thats not to far from you either isn't

She was amazed that we drove that far. Funny the next town over from me is farmington NH.

That is a far piece to drive. I do have a buddy in Warren NH that comes out to the Nascar races in March and then ride ATV's with us in southern Utah on the Paiute Trail system. He then stays in Richfield UT all summer riding the trails and assisting the forest service in marking and upkeep of the trails. Then he heads back to Warren in September. He always brings me a bottle of maple syrup and Lebanon bologna. He does this every year and has for as long as I've known him. I have a couple of folks I know from Roy that go to Lake Powell often. Roy is about 20 minutes from me.

We have seen maple syrup being boiled down at the Maple Syrup Festival in Parke County Indiana. Oh, how sweet the hills smell the end of winter.

It's been a long time since we've been there. They have a Covered Bridge Festival in the fall. We went to that more often because the weather was better.

Hmmmm I never new that Maple syrup was made in Indianna...

I guess as long as you have sugar maples why not...did you know that you can boil down birch sap as well...the typical sugar content in maple sap is 40 to 1

Birch sap is 100 to 150 to one! I really want to try it...I guess its awesome stuff. the birch sap season goes much longer than maple as well but its a whole lot more work.

Oh ya Bob, no balogna in this Lebanon... other than the stuff from our selectmen.

still curious if the folks from Roy might be the Hunters??

Sorry. I headed out for the weekend and didn't do any computering. Wink You've got my mouth a watering for that maple syrup! That hoe-down looks like it's an "sweet" occasion there in Leb city.

Sorry I don't know the Hunters. The families I know are the Tyler's, Smith's and McKee's.

It wont be much...seriously if you want some PM me your address and I'll get some out to you...I have it all bottled individually for sharing...I dont want it sitting in the fridge until next spring cause I'll just be making more....

I have been seriously looking at at a route to Goblin Valley... when we leave Lake Powell we have been going back out to 163 via monument valley then north up 191 to Moab it looks like I could head west on 70 or the other possibility is to take 89 all the way up to I-70 then head east... I have never been past the Zion area if I were to go that way...

You should plan a trip To Lake Powell thats a 10 hour trip for you but its an awesome place...and a SUPER campground...
