Storage For Paper Products

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 10/11/2011, 7:29 am

Scruffy did this mod today. He still has to cut and stain some trim, and when it's dry, apply it. When it's all done, I'll post one last photo. In the meantime, this is the mod - unfinished.

This is the left side drawer section of the wardrobe. Scruffy lifted the mattress so he could remove the bottom drawer.

The area under the drawers.

Opening is cut and sanded on the edges.

Lots of room.

When the trim is finished, I'll post the photo here.

Trim is stained and applied. In person the trim color is a perfect match. In the photo, it is not.

Now all we need to do is fill it with paper products.

The new storage space if filled with - 1 12-pkg of toilet paper, 4 rolls of paper towels, 2 large boxes facial tissue, 3 small boxes of facial tissue, 1 pkg 9-oz plastic glasses, 1 pkg paper plates, and 1 pkg napkins.

Just be sure to pull out that bottom drawer and have a look first. If someone wanted to cut a hole in the trailer's skin, and put a storage door on the outside, instead of cutting a hole in the closet wall, this might make a good outside storage area (maybe for decorations, outdoor lights and cords). Might be a good idea to put a "ceiling" in the compartment. Framing out the opening to support a door would be quite a project.

Great idea. Our eating paper products go in the rear cab over the rear windows.
Waiting to see how the boards are attached to beef up the paper thin wood.

Can you tell us what stain U use to match the cabinet? That would help us all.

The parts are found and my wife wants the top 2 draws out and a longer closet door in. The left and right will be the same.

The trim is applied, and the photo of the finished storage area has been added to post #1.

There is a new photo in the first message of the storage space - filled. It holds more than I thought it would.

Oh, I don't think that's rednecky at all. It's cute. My kids are too old to be called tots. If I was called Tater when they were young, then they would most definitely have been Tater Tots. Or maybe Tater's Tots. Or maybe Tater's scruffy Tots. Laughing

I'll have to remember that. As much as I love tater tots, I never made the connection.

I was looking around my rig and can't find a space that big that is not being used somehow. Although the DW is so good at keeping things to the minimum we still have empty cupboards after 6 years in the rig.. scratch
