A few questions about my new 5th wheel Cat??

Post by WVEric on 9/25/2011, 4:54 pm

First topic message reminder :

Hello all....brand new to the forum and I have a few questions that hopefully can be answered. I just bought a 2012 32 QBT and one question is, it has what is called Catsense....maybe like a motion detector but my yellow light stays on 24/7 and I don't see a switch for it. Any ideas?? Also up front underneath is a 3 way switch. One way turns the two LED lights on for possibly hooking up at night and the other two ways mine does nothing. Any ideas what is suppose to be hooked up to this switch besides the LEDs???Also I can't keep my bumper caps in....done lost 3 on the road. Any remedy for that. Thanks alot!

I just got home with a 2012 Sterling 32RL with the cat sense porch light. It works fine as far as turning on/off with the switch or when the door is opened. The problem is it turns on randomly for a few seconds for no apparent reason whether the door is open or not. I don't actually see a motion detector sensor on it that would cause it. It even turns on periodically when towing down the road at night (at least that's when we notice it). I've called the dealer and they are 'looking into it'Wink I figure they don't have a clue either. Anybody else have this problem? Or can you tell me how the cat sense actually works beside the sensors (prongs at the bottom of the door)? Thanks!

The same thing happens to ours. I pulled the fuse for the winter so it wouldn't run the battery down. We can't find a motion detector either. If you hit the switch 3 or 4 times to turn it off, it helps for a little while but will eventually turn on again. Perhaps Chris can give us an answer.

Kind'a sounds like a good idea gone bad.

We still like the idea as it is really nice on those dark nights and your out and come back to the camper. I posted about this earlier and hitting the switch 3 to 4 times will turn it out but it came on later this winter so I pulled the fuse. Lucky thing for us that we walk by that side of the camper everyday when we go to the barn to feed the horses and noticed it. I would think that there must be some kind of positive way to shut it off for storage though other than pull the fuse.

I put a master shut off switch up front coming off of the batterys. When camper is not in use I just shut the switch off.

Thanks for all comments on the cat sense porch light! I appreciate it. Yep...we figured out how to turn it off (3/4 switch flips), and we do have a battery disconnect for storage. What really perturbs me is it coming on/off while going down the road, and I'm sure my neighbors at NASCAR (or any camping area) aren't going to appreciate my light going off and on all night!!! For now I'll just remove the bulb and use light under the stairs. Hopefully I can get somebody from Forest River to tell me how circumvent the cat sense. Thanks again for all the help!
