Vineyard Camping
Does anyone know of a listing that shows campgrounds with vineyards or vineyards with campgrounds? There is a Bourbon Tour in TN/KY why not an RV wine tour?

Re: Vineyard Camping
I don't see why there wouldn't be a wine tour with a campground associated with it. I remember reading about a wine tour near Saint Louis in an area that might have some campgrounds. Richard Mondavi would probably be able to give some info about that.

Re: Vineyard Camping
The city of Hermann Missouri has a campground that is within walking distance of the Stone Hill Winery. There are a number of other wineries in that area worth visiting but they do require a short drive. A designated driver is a must for wine tours.
The area around St. Genevieve Missouri also has a wine trail with some interesting wineries but the closest campground is Hawn State Park about 10 miles away. We do the St. Genevieve wine trail about once a year.
BTW, Missouri has a lot of wineries.

Re: Vineyard Camping
I just did a search on Google. Saw some interesting wine locales.... you might be able to find some good campgrounds. If you find what you're looking for, please share. The wine tours I saw on-line sound great!

Richard,
When we drive up I-40 towards Saint Louis, we see a lot of vineyards. We've often thought we should stop, but there are always friends/family waiting on the other end of the trip. I don't think we've taken that trip since Scruffy retired - now we would have time to do it.

You didn't miss much. While it's great fun to visit wineries with friends and family, I really don't care for the wine they make.

But Richard, I always found the wines taste better as we move from winery to winery (but of course I'm not driving)

I suppose a person with your last name should be expected to be picky about their wine!

Mondavi is just a screen name. I'm not all that picky with wines, I just don't like the types that are produced in Missouri.

Re: Vineyard Camping
We tasted some wine in an Oklahoma winery - it was good. We bought some to take home. It wasn't as good. We couldn't develop a taste for it.
Visiting the winery was fun, though.

Yep, at the time I chose a screen name, Robert Mondavi was one of my favorite inexpensive wines. Since then, wines from the Santa Alicia Winery in Chile have become my favorite inexpensive wines.

Re: Vineyard Camping
Several years ago I saw tours in Ca. and BC Canada that offered limousine service for their tours. I can't remember wher I saw these but they must be out there. They would pick you up at your site and take you around for the day which included lunch and dinner at the wineries on the tour.
