Post by mga60tw on 9/25/2011, 4:09 am

Hi, we are staying at the Oasis RV resort starting today. Will be here a week. Was wondering what we should see?

Red Rock Canyon & Valley of fire State park. If you don't mind the ride, Grand Canyon Skywalk (the glass bridge over the grand canyon) is neat but pricey. See the Fairmont Street experience at night and just get out and walk the strip, preferably at night. Have a great time, I have been following your blog and feel at times that I am there with you.

The Hoover Dam Bypass has been open for almost a year. We're looking forward to using that bridge this week...... without the trailer. We'll be at Sam's Town Hotel (not campground) for one night..... on our way back home.

Ah, but ----- I requested a room with a view of Mystic Falls. Wink

Whatever, it's comped. Wish we had more time, we'd stay 6 nights.

Can't beat that price, and we haven't stayed there for years. We DO play at Sam's Town in Shreveport, LA quite a bit. The offers we get for LV are better than the offers for Bossier City.

Probably because there is more competition.

We didn't get offers for LV on-line - mail offers only, and we still get them. I think that since the economy got bad, they are making the offers based on our play in Louisiana. Yes, there is definitely more competition in LV.

I recommend any of the the following Cirque Du Soliel shows:
Mystere, O, or KA. Not necessarily in that order. If you can get seats, don't sit way down front. You will miss some stuff behind you. I've heard the old "strip" is fun, but never been there.

Water show at night in front of the Bellagio. The higher up you can get, the better. We like the view from the Hotel side instead of the street side.

The pirate show outside Treasure Island was "meh" to me, but some people loved it.

In no particular order:
1. Ditto the watershow at the Bellagio.
2. Do Hoover Dam. Take the "long" tour. Yes it's more expensive, no we didn't take the short one, yes it's worth it. Stop in Boulder City for breakfast on the way out.
3. Take in the Fremont Street Experience, free, some evening.

So, there's a day and two nights and you haven't even stepped into a casino! lol!

Second this recommendation! The Hoover Dam long tour was the only part of a trip to LV with DW and her siblings and spouses I enjoyed.

That is the Fremont ST Experience, not Fairmont.....I know, lived there 10 yrs and worked across the street at the telephone building. Great place to go for lunch though, in the casinos..

Like others have said, Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead now that it has some water in it from what I understand, but no where even up to the levels of the 90's, Valley of Fire, go north to St. George, Ut.....alot of things to see, just stay out of the casinos, namely you cant breath because of the smoke and you'll come out with less than when you walked in with....

We consider what we spend gaming an entertainment expense. Laughing It's fun for us. We couldn't go see Fremont Street Experience without stepping inside at least one casino.

Glad to hear the water is rising a bit.

If your into the pawn stars show. Their pawn shop is 4 blocks up from Fremont St on the blvd.
Any circus de solei show is good.
A walk through belagio or the Venetian is fun.
There's a monorail that runs behind MGM
That's really fast. About 10 bucks round trip down the strip.
Thereslots to see and do. Just pick one and go for it.

John I walked right past the phone company and even talked to a phone guy that was standing out on the sidewalk smoking.
