The Pledge

Post by schrowang on Tue Sep 20, 2011 5:41 pm

I am taking the pledge.

I pledge on my honor not to dis anyone's brand of truck on this sitte, whether it be jokingly or for real.

I do hope some of you out there will join me.

Why? Because someone's definition of funny may be someone elses definition of a put-down. With all the crap that's going on in the world, I don't think we need more of it on this site.

Thanks for listening.

Well said Mike. They all have a great product and each of them unfortunately has lemons. I often thought if I ever win the lottery I will own at least one of each brand.

Come on guys. Its a truck, not your Mother.

What fun is life without a little sense of humor?

I'll take the anti-pledge.

Any of you guys and gals are welcome to joke/rib me about my truck any time you want.

I'm with MountainMan on this one. As quoted from the movie Stripes: "My name's Francis, but my friends call me Psycho. Any of you call me Francis, and I'll kill you. And any of you touch my stuff, and I'll kill you. And any of you "homo's" touch me, and I'll kill you."
-Francis

"Lighten up Frances."
-Sgt. Hulka

Maybe we should have a list of people with a sense of humor and those without. Then we could be sure of not offending anyone.

I have to agree with the anti-pledge.

Ford, Dodge and Chevy all make a very good product. Life is to short to sweat the small stuff. I bash Tom all the time about his Dodge, but it is all in fun, and he is my friend.
Lighten up...Feel free to bash my Ford anytime. I know it is all in fun.

FORD.... Found on road dead. affraid

FORD ...First on race day.. cheers

Unfortunately, what starts out as a joke or friendly ribbing, can quickly become downright nasty. Sure, it's fun to dis a brand of vehicle, it's been going on for years. But, maybe there should be a little self-control on how much..... and it should never get personal. Personally, I think the dissing of vehicles here on the forum has been covered. Been there, done that..... why bother to do more?

It isn't just trucks. I don't like one part of a state being dissed by people who live in another part of a state. This is where feelings can certainly be affected, and I must commend the people who live in the part of the state that is being dissed for not participating in those discussions. I also don't like the comparisons of east coast and west coast Wildcats. Basically, they are the same, one coast might have a feature that the other coast doesn't have, and vice-versa. But, to constantly harp on the difference can definitely cause hard feelings. Perhaps FR has reasons for making some features that might be specific to climates or topographical features.

Tom and I both "had" 2007 29rlbs WC's. Both had their good points. Why the west coast version had more insulation is a puzzle to me. The east coast is much cooler in the winter, and you would think that FR would put more insulation in the east coast models. We NEVER talked about who had the better WC. When you add options it increases the price, and I know our unit cost about 3k more than Tom's. Was the 3k increase worth the price?? maybe yes, maybe no.
I agree that we should not get personal on any "bashing".
I do not see much of that here.
Bottom line is that we are becoming to politically correct and thin skinned.
We all need to lighten up.

Dissing and ribbings fine I guess it's gonna happen even in casual conversation.
Just keep in mind that if the topic starts getting out of hand it's gonna get deleted quick. And sometimes you may not get a explanation or a heads up. It'll just be gone.
Just be mindful of what you type. We've all made the mistake at some point.

Maybe the same should be said for Tankless WH vs Tank WH's... those who dont own one shouldnt give their 2 cents ...... I think that rings a bell here... Best let the owners who have one give their own advice or gripe.... I've finally settled my problem with my TLWH.

I want to change something in what I said. I used the word "comparisons" above. I really don't mind comparisons - in anything. It's when a person feels what he or she has is far superior, and mentions it every chance he or she gets that it becomes redundant and pushy.

I'm guilty of bashing the tankless water heaters. Not from experience - just saying I won't have one as long as I continue hearing bad comments, and I just can't see using my own propane supply when the electricity we now use is still free. When campground owners start metering temporary guests, I might reconsider. BTW, we would definitely like a tankless WH in our home - it would have to be electric, though, because where we live we are all electric.

Ok, time for a nice glass of wine, a cold beer, shot of Whiskey, glass of iced tea, or whatever cools you down. I personally don't think that anybody means to hurt feelings on this site or I wouldn't be part of it. If I get offended by a post, I just realize that the way something reads is not always how / what somebody was trying to "say" (if that makes sense, perhaps I take my first sentence a little to literal).

One of the things I like about this site is that we can poke at each other and / or speak our minds without any worries (so I thought).

Mooooooo I like you. Let's go with the first sentence and top it off with a long island ice tea. Everybody's just gearing up for the next season of cabin fever. I've got about two more short trips planned and we'll be blow'n the lines out again.

Not even thinking of winterizing at this point. Cool

This month and next is Prime Time for us. 14 days already this month and leaving in the morning again for the weekend.

We have 14 days reserved in the WV mountains next month and we always spend the last week of October at our private camp.

Prime Time! Laughing

Tater if you get a good bartender to mix you one, Their a tasty treat.
Now if you really want one that will knock your socks off, I'm sure the White Tea of north georgia from up around stanfords house would have your eyes peeled back. I've tasted some of that stuff from N Ga and its really smooth.

Long Island Iced Tea:
•1/2 oz triple sec
•1/2 oz light rum
•1/2 oz gin
•1/2 oz vodka
•1/2 oz tequila
•1 oz sour mix
•cola
•lemon wedge for garnish

I've found that if they are mixed correctly, you can't tell there is much alcohol.

Thanks for the recipe, BobnPi.

When we went out for dinner last night, I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea. It was good. Really couldn't taste the alcohol.... it was very smooth. I still like Margaritas better, but now and then it's nice to have something different.

A few of my best mining buddies have to make their Long Island Teas while we're camping. Their camp table looks like a bar with all the bottles. And, they're loads of fun to watch once they've got a few under the belt.

Is the Grand Margarita in one of their lounges? None of their restaurants particularly appeal to us, but we could definitely take time to visit a lounge. We used to love Narcoosee's, but it has changed over the years, and it just isn't the same.
