Slide Out Bottom Internal Seal Problem

Post by conductor943 on 9/12/2011, 2:55 pm

I am having an issue with the bottom inside seal on my bedroom slide out( it is an internal slide out ) . About 4 - 6 inches of the seal starting at the very back corner has come off of the metal strip, ( which is a piece on 1/4" angle aluminum ) and it rolls in when the slide is retracked, and pops out when the slide comes all the way out. The seal is chewed up pretty bad on the end and will need replacement.
There is very little space to work to try to get it back on and/ or install a new seal on the metal strip. Do the external seal flaps need to be removed to do this repair ? Has anyone had this problem, and what is the correct way to get the old one back on / or replace with a new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem with the seal on my main slide. Recently it came off all along one side, extending a couple feet over the top. This is the second time it has come off. I don't have a solution, I just put it back on. There is not much room to work and it's a real pain.

I've seen others use 3M weatherstrip adhesive to resecure it. Make sure the groove is clean before the install. It helps if you have the slide out but partially in to gain the access.

Yes, I used that stuff last year, but it came off again.

I remember way back when my main slide ribber would pull out of the track. I noticed that the black rubber had the rope caulk all over it. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the rope caulk on the main slide was sticking to the black seal pulling the seal out of the track.

After cleaning it all off, I put white electrical tape down the edge of the main slide where the rope caulk was oozing out of. This stopped the seal from being pulled out of the track.

Don't know if this will work on the bedroom slide, but it does work on the main slide.
