Firewood in PA.
A question for those who camp in PA. I just was reading the advisories on firewood. Maybe I missed it, but it didn't say you couldn't bring wood with you. Can someone clarify for me? I would like to bring some wood with me this weekend (I may need it to build an ark..lol)

The College of Ag Dept of Entomology at Penn State University has information.
Here is more from the USDA
The short rule of thumb is "Buy it where you burn it."

If in doubt, I guess the safe thing would be to not bring firewood across state lines..... and in some cases across county lines. It would be good if this kind of info could be located in one website.

Re: Firewood in PA.
Lots of states don't want you to bring wood into their state cause of the emerald ash borer.
And of course they say to buy it at the CG instead of carrying all that added weight.
Lots of places sell firewood on the side of the road right before you get to the entrance of the CG.
How long are you staying down this a way?

Re: Firewood in PA.
Last year there was a county by county "quarantine" for those areas that were hit with the ash borer. However this did not stop the quick spread of the beetle state-wide. As of February of this year the ban on transporting firewood in the state has been lifted.

Tom, we are going to be in Lebanon from Sunday to Sat. (providing we can get there and they have power). Mike, Thanks for the info on the wood. We are heading out in the morning and going to see how it goes.

We'll be there Tuesday to Monday....
And if you've never been to a Cabela store, you have to go to the one in Hamburg, PA.
