I think you all need to move to a safer country
Reading through the forum some times I am amazed at the problems that you have to put up with.
I am not knocking your country or being pompus. But you have to put up with extremes of weather where ours is quite temperate. (not too hot or too cold). We only have windy days not tornados and hurricaines. Some parts of the U.K does, how ever suffer with drought and flooding.
If we suffer an earth quake it is hardly felt. We only have one type of poisonus snake but we never here of any problems with them on a daily weekly or monthly basis. On thing we have got is a Gyspy problem I live about 4 miles from the biggest illeagle gyspy camp in the U.K. which is a real hot topic over here at the moment. If you type in Dale farm in your search engine it should bring a list of sites that are covering the details.
Sean
Ps this is not ment to offend or show me as being complacent, but just a view that I have.

After global warming has melted the major ice sheets, at least most of it will still be dry. Just thinking ahead...

I live 12 miles north of Detroit, where lots of people die from lead poisoning. A gypsy camp seems tame to me!

One of the great things about this country is that we can complain about it and not be put into jail.
At least for now anyway... For all it's faults, it is still the best country in the world.

TC, That was funny my friend. Ive got my swimmies ready.
Sean , You don't know what your missing. Seeing a cow picked up by a tornado and tossed a couple miles down the road along with a couple of cars is quite the show. We have gypsies here to, they live in camp wall street.

I prayed to God for food to curb my hunger and a vehicle that I could use to find a job. Suddenly a big wind came up. The next thing I know, I have a side of beef, a whole hog, several chickens, and a red beemer convertible in my front yard. God works in mysterious ways!! Next time, I'm going to ask for a slutty woman, a million bucks, and an endless supply of scotch and beer.

Re: I think you all need to move to a safer country
Every country has good and bad. DW and I did Great Britian last year. First night out to eat her purse was stolen, along with passport, drivers license, money, credit cards, etc. Taken right off the back of her chair in a Pub, and really slick how they did it. Never had that problem here. We didn't get part of the food we ordered and were told we'd have to pay for it anyway. They were quite happy to see a very loud and unhappy Texan leave their establishment. I don't think they have ever had anyone dress them down so well. Short story on that, I paid them and then immediately called my credit card company and told them what happened. I refused to pay any part of that bill.
We lost a full day having to go the US Embasy for a new passport. What a royal pain that was.
Other than that, we absolutely loved our vacation once we got out of London. We aren't really city oriented but I wanted her to see some of the more famous sites in London before we moved on to Bristol and surronding areas.
Not
you in any way Sean, nor your great country. A few rude people did not ruin our trip. In fact, it made us appreciate even more the great people we did meet. But DW and I love where we are and the weather isn't enough to make us want to move.

That is so funny! With your recent health problems, maybe you better do without the slutty woman.

What a nightmare that must have been. We went out for dinner with our daughter and sil last week. I hung my purse on the back of my chair, and got scolded by my daughter. She was right, of course, and I don't usually put my purse there, but this time, I just forgot to be cautious.
We wouldn't want to move, either.

Re: I think you all need to move to a safer country
I wish my town was a little safer. Did you read the headlines today? The shooting at the Carson City IHOP? 5 Nevada National Guardsman were shot in addition to 6 other restaurant goers. Two guardsman died there. No motive yet.

Last week there was a midnight brawl at the local Denny's.

I heard about that on the news. At the time I heard it, though, there wasn't any information telling who or how many were shot, and they didn't say anything about the National Guardsmen.
