Same problem, seems like the thermocouple might be bad. Just got through replacing the converter.

Did you turn the gas off after the last trip? Could be you just need to re-bleed the air out of the gas line. Turn the stove burner on and get it lit first. That way you know you've got gas back to the fridge again. Then try starting your fridge again.

Did that already TC even cracked the line at the back of fridge don't think it's a gas problem.Going to have to wait for weekend to look at it been pretty busy with this storm that just rolled thru will have to just stay on the genorator. Is there a way to check the thermocouples to see if it's bad?

I had to blow out the area to get mine going. Had a Mr. Spider problem.

There is an electrode that is near the gas orifice...when voltage is applied the spark jumps the gap to ignite the gas...

The holder for this electrode is notorious for being able to move or letting the porcelin of the electrode move... it may still spark but not in the correct area to ignite...then the fridge will shut down in "check mode"

Its a simple thing to ID or inspect. may be worth a look.

Have someone turn the fridge on while you are outside and watch for the spark...I am not certain of this but I think that that electrode serves as the thermocouple as well (spark rectifcation) its very simple to replace.

The spark ignitor is also what they call a flame rod it senses electricity in the flame and I have seen the ground wire on the fridge corrode and cause the problem you describe I would be checking the ground also.

That happened to our fridge last summer. We replaced the thermocoupler and now works perfect again. For our dometic the part was only about $20.

How did you get it out? I looked at it and it seemed like I would have to take the whole thing apart.

Had mine out removed two screws at the top and two at the bottom and disconnected gas line. slides right out the top screws were hidden under some tin foil tape the bottom were exposed at the corners otherwise it came out easy.

Mine had to have a mod applied so mine is a little more work then that. I have a shield that has to be removed first.

Got it out and a new one on order. Had the mod also so after removing more screws than needed and prying some sheet metal I finally got it out. Will get the new one tomorrow and put it in.

Glad you got it working again. $22 for a thermocouple is much better than replacing the fridge.

run the fridge on the mains you will not need gas then, sorry I could not resist, another way to light the fridge is to crack open the gas pipe wait untill a load of gas is escaping then through in a lighted match this is got to be a sure fire way of getting the fridge alight, you might not be able to use it again, but it will go up in smoke. Please don't try this at home, or any where else for that matter.

Why did it shut down after 2 hours. Was the refer cold enough or did it just quit.
