Two More Mods Completed.

Post by Portagie1968 on 8/27/2011, 7:54 am

Mounted a Volt Minder for the solar charging system I have.

It comes set up to run off a cigarette lighter so I just added one. I had shrinkable sleeves for the lighter instead of tape but I goofed and heated it to much. Man did it shrink. So I had to use tape.

Mounted a new switch for the water pump. More sensible place to have it. Run the new switch off one of the fuses in the battery area and the ground is hooked to the frame. When I get ready to come home from our trip I am going to hook up the other switch. Theoretically you can have both switches on at the same time and the pump will work fine. Going to find out on the 17th of September.

Dan, do you have any concerns about the cigarette lighter connection vibrating loose during travel?

Why didn't the senior just cut the wires and hard wire it? Then you wouldn't have to worry about the connection coming apart.

This young cat has a display in the trailer for the solar system. It toggles between the system voltage and current output of the panels.

TC - I hope not. I will find out Friday. If it does I have a cure.

I did not hard wire yet becasue at the time I wanted it removable. When the trailer power is on I do not need it becasue I have one in the trailer. Only need this one when the solar is doing its job in storage mode. I may still do it.

This topic should have been 3 mods instead of 2. Maybe somebody can change the topic so it is correct. Here is the third.

We have a cabinet across the back of the trailer. We keep some odds and ends in the right and all our very critical plastic and paper products in the left. When we arrive at a camp sight we have every thing mixed. So I looked at DW and said this is Bull Pucky. I am tired of lack of separation of odds/ends and paper/plastic. This has to stop. So I put in a divider. Was not able to drill into the back wall becasue of the electric wires back there somewhere. Front was a little thin so I just made the divider a little long and glued every thing in place. See what happens.

Did not get the back side down good and tight. Senior moment.
