internal water filter, when to change or sanitize

I was wondering how often others replace or sanitize the internal water filter? Sometimes don't go out for a couple of weeks and thought bacteria might be growing in the internal filter. I sanitize my system at the beginning of each season but after that I don't change the internal filter until next year. I actually remove the filter at the end of the season when I winterize. Any thoughts along these lines.

I would change the filter once a year. I forgot this year so I am of schedule. I only sanitize my fresh water tank once a year. Just be for I go dry camping for a week.

Do you have a drain for the filter. Helps when you put it in.

I don't have a drain for the water filter. I usually let it sit with the water in it until I go camping the next time. When you sanitize the trailer , if using the fresh water tank and the mix to sanitize you bypass the internal filter. Looks to me like my filter only works with the water coming from the outside and not from the fresh water tank. I have an external water filter that I used with my other trailer. Today I put some clorox in that filter and then hooked the hose up and ran that through the camper plumbing. That got the internal filter and all the lines. I also put the mixture in the fresh water tank to cover all the bases.. Thanks everyone for the input. This forum and the folks that use it are really a nice bunch almost like family. Would be nice to have a reunion, guess that would be alot to get together. Thanks again!!

The filter that came with my Wildcat is good for 10,000 gallons so once a year is usually enough. However, I visually inspect the filter after every trip to make sure the filter still looks fairly clean. I have been to campgrounds where the water changed the filter from white to brown in just a couple of days.

Unless your Wildcat is plumbed differently than mine, both the city water and the water from the holding tank should pass through the filter.

Drain easy to put in. There is a post somewhere. Fresh water tank on mine is filtered.

I do the same as Richard. Check B4 and after each trip visually and change once a year. I leave water in it between outings and when we arrive we run fresh water thru the system. I have had to change between camps B4 because of the filter getting very dirty at the previous site. We try to get the best filters for all the little creatures and sediment in different campsites.

Guess what guys! My water filter does filter both the fresh and external water. I don't know what I was thinking. Guess I had a senior moment! HA! Thanks everyone for the feedback..

Need to check it before.

I swap it out in the spring, pull it before pumping antifreeze in the fall. The filter at the well where we park usually gets the twigs/leaves/sand out, honest it's river water sorta filtered through sand before the pump gets it. The water out of the well is pretty bad, we don't actually drink it. But then we don't pay to park there either. Also the city water down in Arizona isn't much better, actually tastes worse.

OK We Just bought a 2012 32 RKS and I read about the water filter but I couldn't locate it. I placed a call to the factory but they never returned my call.Huh!!!I have looked behind panels (in the basement) under the kitchen sink where the TWH is located and under the bathroom sink. Maybe it just doesn't have one. Our wildcat was built in Dallas Oregon. Any Clues??

Follow the water line from the external city water hookup into the trailer. It should lead you right to the filter housing. My filter housing is just inside the basement not more than a foot from the outside city water connection.

Our 29rlbs is about the same as Richard Mondavi's. Filter is just inside the basement door on the driver's side. Very near where the city water enters the trailer.

My filter is accessed through the driver side basement door. I have to remove a little panel on the rear basement wall right at the outside wall.

30RLBS is the same. Use plumbers grease on the rubbers and easy on the wrench. I try to use the wrench only when I take the housing off.

Exactly what I do.

Any particular brand of plumbers grease that you've found to be better than another, or are they pretty much all the same?

Run down to Home Depot. They all look like Vaseline. Actually called Waterproof Grease. Danco, Inc made mine.

Thanks guys, Ihave looked inside the basement whereI took off the panel and followed the city water hookup. The only thing there is the water pump. I guess they decided not to install an internal filter.

Easy to add.
