New Speed Records from Ford F250 Diesel

Post by Richard Mondavi on 8/25/2011, 12:00 pm

I thought this was an interesting article. A 2011 F250 Diesel set three land speed records and it was only lightly modified. Top speed was 182 MPH on biodiesel.

Umm only a 50% increase in output. scratch I don't think the engine would last long in that state of tune. It would end up like one of those PowerBroke Diesels from ford lol!

Sean you are correct in a way but a lot of it is the owner not Ford. The oil cooler is designed to take care of the engine as it is. If you add chips U need to add another oil cooler. BD makes one but you have to take the front of the truck apart. The heads will work majority of the time. I have a Isuzu Pup with 250,000 with the same system and it works. If you add a chip to a Ford you need to plan to add studs. IMHO the 2004 I have was designed so that you kept it stock possibly for smog.

Now the 2011 will stay together longer on these conditions. They made design changes so the engine will hold together better.

That's fast. I wonder what the record is pulling a fifth wheel?
