Geology and what makes this earth tick has always fascinated me...

Odd that they were so close in timing... The one in Colorado was centered near Trinidad, Thats our first gas stop after the dreaded Kim Colorado...on our yearly trip

Makes you wonder if the CO. quake made the fault slip out here...I felt it here in NH...just a slight vibraition kind of like when you drive by one of those vibrating steam rollers on a hiway paving project.

I can remember at least three small quakes here in my area in the last ten years. The thing is that since most of NH is made of granite you feel even the small ones...

dont forget the New Madrid fault and the quakes in the late 1800's
those were devistating!

Oh Hold on gotta go! News flash... the White House is gonna release a statement straight from the department of the obvious.... "everybodys ok......... now I gotta get back to my vacation" Wink

I felt it here, I was just climbing up a ladder when it happened. Ladder was rocking back and forth so I leaned against the wall which was also moving. Jumped off the ladder and ran outside, figured, if the house was falling, I didn't want to be in it.

But I did a walk a bout and all looks fine with the house.

We live in South Jersey and my friend said pictures even fell off the wall and traffic lights shook. Of course my wife and I are camping out in Pa and never felt or knew a thing (being at amusement park Knoebels doesn't help) until my phone started getting calls. Oh well maybe we will catch the next one.

We are about 80 miles southeast of the center of of the earthquake.
Had just parked at the local Wal-Mart and had not shut the car off yet. I though the car engine was acting up. AwwMan . Could not figure what was going on until our daughter call and told us what was going on. It felt like someone was pushing one corner of the car rocking it. I was about ready to carry the car to the shop. lol!

I work about 15 miles east of Hershey, Pa. I felt it well in my second floor office. It shook twice for about 5 seconds each time. Everything in the room was moving. I suspected right away that it was an earthquake. Never experienced the likes before. It was quite a sensation. Can you just imagine the energy that it takes to shake the whole east coast.

Epicenter was 35 minutes from our house. No damage though. One of our friends who lives in Louisa, VA, has a cracked foundation, interior walls, fallen over cabinets, etc.

Now, that's scary! Glad you didn't fall off the ladder, you and Sharon are okay, and your house looks fine.
We saw on the news where some walls had crumbled, and other damage.

We've gotten at least 3 mild earthquakes around here recently. Some people say they are caused by the gas drilling that is going on. We haven't felt any of them..... and hope we don't.

I was sleeping so didin't feel it. Other people that live around me said they felt it.

I'm getting closer and closer to owning beach front property,,,, lol!

My uncle had a map of the future earth that someone made. Showed where the ocean would be, and it showed Middle Ga pretty much the way it was way back when the ocean was here before. So I'd have some ocean front or just a few blocks away. sunny
Only the north west corner of FLA was still sticking up.

I listen to the science radio channel and tonight I was listening to a guy talking about they could regrow knee joints in rabbits with stem cell tech. Heard another one saying they could regrow your teeth that they were doing it using hogs now. Heard that one a couple years ago. I think it's a lot further along than we're being told.
