Fewer Posts?
Is it my imagination, or are there fewer posts on the CG Reviews and Trip Report threads? Is this indicative of high fuel prices and a poor economy?
Maybe the admins can do a comparison year over year?
Just wondering.

Re: Fewer Posts?
In our case, it's the hot weather. We just don't want to go out when it's so hot. Planning a non-camping trip to CA next month, then a couple trips to FL.... we even plan on staying in at least one different campground on the trip to FL.
It might be partly because of the economy, but that isn't what's keeping us from going.

So, I'm gonna answer my own question. Here are the results based on a count through August of this year and January to August of 2010.
Campground Reviews - 2011 45 posts: 2010 40 posts
Trip Report - 2011 19 posts: 2010 42 posts
Interesting data. Looks like fewer of us are traveling this year. Or, we're just not claiming bragging rights on where we've been in 2011.

Re: Fewer Posts?
Last winter we had started to plan a big trip for this summer. Then there was a lot of talk about fuel prices really going through the roof. Based on what we heard we decided not to take that trip. Well fuel prices, although not cheap, have not skyrocketed as predicted. Since then we decided to take a chance and go to PA in Sept. Fuel is definitely a big factor.

Re: Fewer Posts?
You have to consider a lot of people go to the same campground multiple times , So no need to repost a review. That would be my case.
Also their review may end up in another section of the forum which i've seen happen a few times.

Re: Fewer Posts?
I was just about to start a thread on how those two sections of the forum are not used enough. I really enjoy looking at pics and reading about others trips. I try to post on as many trip reports and campground reviews as I can.
I have noticed many rarely or ever comment on others trip reports. I think this gives the impression of lack of interest (whether intended or not) and keeps many from giving trip reports. Its time consuming to post photos and gather information about our trips only to get one or two replies from the forum members. I know this reason alone has kept me from posting trip reports.
I would love for those sections to become much more active and all of us to contribute when we can. At times I think we've all forgotten why we have these things in the first place. Its about traveling/camping and just getting away for a while.
I grow tired of reading and posting about mods and repairs all the time. Lets hear about the good stuff every now and then too. Lets read about and see those travel/camping pics.

Like Scruffy and Tater, we just don't go this time of year due to the heat. And like Admin said, we tend to go to the same locations for short stays.

Re: Fewer Posts?
Our next trip will be without the trailer, but I'll try to post pics. It's going to be a quick trip without any sightseeing, but I like to take pictures from the truck. Not sure if we'll have our laptop with, but if we do, I can post pics.
Will try to take more pics on our next couple trips to FL. The scenery doesn't change much, and we have our favorite campgrounds, but we should have a couple extra days to do some sightseeing... at least during the November trip.

That is so true. It's a bit of a disappointment to take the time to post pics and reports and no one even comments. When I take a picture, it's huge when it comes out of the camera. So I resize it before posting it in the forum. That takes time, and I don't always have the time to do it.... so I always appreciate a little "thank you" now and then.

Re: Fewer Posts?
Looking at the pictures that are posted on the trip/campground report, I'd probably be rather redundant by saying I'm
on almost every one of them. I could take some pics when I go out again, but solid brown isn't really a color I want to post here. Especially after seeing some of the ones from up where it's cooler.
