Duo Therm Thermostat Issue

Duo Therm Thermostat Issue
I have an 08 32QBBS and have narrowed a problem down to a thermostat issue.
What happens is that there appears to be a loose connection within the thermostat. If you put pressure on the thermostat it will operate correctly.
I want to replace it but I am not sure how to pop the cover off or what to replace it with (same one or upgrade to something else).
Any ideas?
Appreciate everyone's help in advance.
Thanks,
J. Collier

Re: Duo Therm Thermostat Issue
Hi and welcome...
The thermostats used in rvs are usually very cheap and use a bimetallic spring type contactor...
you cant buy the old style mercury TT''s of days gone buy not that you would want to...like you hinted to, buying a new Heat/cool thermostat from your local plumbing/hvac supplier or hardwear store is the best...
Your TT controlls the heat and AC so keep that in mind your looking for a NON programable 1heat 1cool model.
honewell is very expensive usually but are a good quallity... I sell them to my customers and can be purchased for around 45 bucks depending on the model....
The instructions are usually very good but if you have any questions let me know...I do hvac for a living. sometimes the wireing looks tricky but its not.
OH YA IMPORTANT...dont buy a self powered unit...look for a battery opperated unit if you are going with a digital TT...
NOt sure of the romval of the cover on your but I will look at mine it should just pop off...I have not swapped my tt yet just got the WC last friday.

to the forum. Our Frequently Asked Questions topic (right between General Camper Topics and DIY Improvements) on the front page list has some links within the WildcatCamperForum that have some solutions to common problems. Here is a link to a wiring diagram - hope it helps when you replace your thermostat.

Welcome to the forum. I'd suggest upgrading to a Hunter.

I changed the switch location. Makes more sense.

Re: Duo Therm Thermostat Issue
You know what I was not even thnking about the Hi lo speed on our WC's.
house hold forced hot air systems do not have hi and low settings.
homes with central air have a multi speed motors.... Higher rpm for more CFM on the heavier (denser) cold air when running the AC...
there must be a QUALITY digital thermostat with the HI/low speed settings without having to add the extra switch....is that the hunter you all have been referring to?
I'll check my catalogs and suppliers I'm interested to know myself now because I planned on swapping out theTT on my WC...
Quadsandcampers have you checked the wireing connections...you had asked how the cover comes apart...it does pry off, if you look at the side you will see the seam. I carefull used my leatherman blade...you will see 6 wires secured with small phillips screws.
You may just have a loose wire and thats it...
the circuit board may have a bad trace but I would check those wires...

There is a way for the AC to go HI/LO with out a switch. I got the parts and pieces but decided not to go that way.

Actually there is 2 ways to go. One is expensive, do able, and look like factory, the other is just do able.
