There are two litigants that together will receive $5,000
Litigant "A" is awarded $1,000.
If you take $1,000 off the $5000 then litigant A gets $3,000 and litigant B gets $2,000
but.....
If you gave each litigant $2,500 before the trial, then litigant A gets $1,000 from litigant B, then litigant B would get $1,500 and litigant A gets $3,500.
Can you figure out which one would be correct?
