Fairmont RV Park MT
Fairmont RV Park is located off of exit 211 off of I-90 in Anaconda MT. It is located between Butte and Anaconda. It is a very nice park located next to the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. The staff was wonderful at check-in. Telling us about all the local sites to see and also the places worth dining at. They also have a RVIA & RVTC certified mechanic on site, which although I haven't needed (yet) it was a comfort to see. The published prices for service were in line/slightly less than my regular shop. I guess that is one of the reasons that we were in "Prevost" row. It has been a very nice, clean, quiet place to stay. I stayed up most of Friday night watching the Perseids meteor shower. From here it is a short drive to the abandoned copper mine in Butte or the smelter in Anaconda. The only negative about this campground is that the wifi is sporadic and Karyn went geocaching with Tonya and took the "smartphone", (my phone still has a cord).
This is the slag left from the copper smelting process. It looks like fine black glass sand.

There are some nice lakes for fishing around here. Look at the snow and remember that it is mid August.

The lake was on the way to a sapphire mine where you can buy a bucket of dirt for $20.00 and pan for sapphires. We collected 37.24 ctw total. There was a family in front of us that found one stone worth between $10,000 to $100,000 depending on heat treating and cut.

Tomorrow we leave to go to West Yellowstone for a few days dry camping and fishing on the Madison River.

Nice photos. I wouldn't mind finding a sapphire worth $10,000 to $100,000.
The lake looks very peaceful.
