Air Con seems to have gone south
I suppose I could always hire a punka ----- when I need the air to be cooled, but that would be a awful and mean of me to do that. So I will just have to get it sorted.

Re: Air Con seems to have gone south
Sounds bad. Did something blow into the unit that might be keeping the fan from moving?

Re: Air Con seems to have gone south
Dumb question, but is this the first time you've tried to run it for a while?
I remember reading somewhere that some folks had a problem getting the fan to go and the unit to start until they spun the fan by hand.
Maybe worth a try.....
Oh, whats a punka???

Re: Air Con seems to have gone south
I run it last week when the weather was warm, I left it on and when I returned a couple of hours later it had tripped the power.
I have had a quick check of the unit to see if there was any foreign objects, but it was clear.

I'd think it's more the compressor than the fan that's causing the problem. There is a post somewhere about changing the capacitor on someones AC. I'd check that first. If the capacitor looks swollen/bulging , then it's toast. Get a new one. Easy to install.
