2003 Chevy 2500hd 4x4 with 2011 Wildcat 29bhs MPG
Hey guys new to the forum, and so here goes: This is probably a ridiculous question and the chances of one having the same combination of TV and TT I'm sure are slim but here goes. Was wondering what kind of MPG I could expect with my 2003 Chevy 2500hd 4x4 3.73 gears and a 2011 wildcat 29bhs. I am close to purchasing the TT and I know if your worried about the MPG then you dont need to worry bout buying a TT, but was just curious. I get about 9mpg towing a 14' enclosed landscape trailer and was wondering if there will be a huge difference. I imagine the landscape trailer loaded is somewhat close to the dry weight of the TT. Thanks for the posts

leatherhead.Am assuming your engine takes unleaded Vs deisel based on that 7 mpg. My best guess is, you won't see any significant difference in mileage with the 29bhs.
Some of the Chevy owners here will eventually chime in with their input. Stay tuned...

Leatherhead612,
As you can see from my signature, I have a diesel 2500 HD so I have no direct experience to draw on either but I would expect that TC is correct. With my Duramax I get about 12.5 towing overall with my rig.

Running a 6.0 gas with 4.10 gears pulling my 32qbbs. I used to get 7.5-8mpg at very best. Installed a new air intake and it actually helped MPG, I wasn't holding out much hope that it would. Just pulled last weekend and got 8.6mpg. That's a solid gain considering my 7.5 used to be in North Dakota and the 8.6 was going through a mountain pass.

Welcome, I have 2004 GMC 6>0 gasser, 4X4 4:10 gears with 4L80E auto trans. I just pulled a 4400 mile trip through Rocky mountains Tx to Nm Mt Co ND SD etc and overall average was 8.4. Only mod I have made is a K & N air filter. Can't really tell if that made a diff over factory air filter. Again, welcome to the forum.

I'm getting 12-13 MPG towing around the North Carolina mountains. Just now got back from a long weekend in Cherokee, with the same mileage. But my 2500 HD is a diesel w/ the allison transmission, which is probably making the big difference. I am taking it that your TV is a gas burner? Our 29BHBP should weight about the same. Any way, WELCOME to the forum!!

I've got that same camper with a 2011 chevy 3/4 ton with 3.73 and the 6.0 gas engine, I have averaged about 9.5 MPG on both trips with it so far. I have found though that the style of trailer also plays into it. I have a 16 foot equipment trailer with a ford tractor on it, between the two they weigh about the same as the wildcat, but I get around 11 MPG with them.

Howdy.... I'm new here as well, just signed papers today on an 09 wildcat 311THX and was looking for info and saw this post. I have yet to pull my new/used 5th wheel, but have a 2005 6.0 2500 hd Crew cab...
Now... pulling my old FR surveyor about 5700lbs I would average 10 miles per gallon on a yearly trip from Maine to Arizona... miles per tank would swing drasticly based on what part of the US I was in...(Some day let me tell you all a story about Kim Colorado...Yikes)watch out for 85 octain being sold as regular, my gasser would always get better MPG on 87 octain or above...I would always gas up with premium In Alamosa Colorado gearing up for Wolf Creek pass and the CO rockies. Getting out of the east coast and 10% ethenol always helped to.
A desiel is in my future but not for a couple of years at least...now I have to wait and see what my 6.0 Silverado willl get with the wildcat FW...
