Artwork on the Road
I’m not a true art lover, but I do enjoy seeing unique and interesting pieces of art when we travel. Here are some examples.
This first one was taken at a KOA. A number of tree stumps had been turned into works of art at the campground.

This next piece was on a lake. I don't know if this was supposed to warn people not to swim or just some art.

Along that same lake I came across this piece of art while hiking. The rest of the hike I kept my eyes skyward...just in case.

I thought this jeep made from old tools, scrap metal, and license plates was very unique. This was at Hole in the Rock in Moab, Utah.

This last piece I'll bore you with is a great sculpture called "American Farmer", as I studied it, I began to feel as if he was flipping me off.

You just never know what things you will see when traveling.

Richard Thanks for posting the pictures. We will be in St Louis, MO for a few days next week as we make our move to Colorado Springs, CO. Have decided to leave the RV in Georgia for the time being.

Along I-40 near Painted Desert and Petrified Forest were sculptures of dinosaurs. Most are gone now. Last time we went through there, there was one on a stretch of Rt 66 in Holbrook - or maybe it was Winslow - no, I'm sure it was Holbrook.
After Hurricane Katrina took down a lot of trees along Hwy 90 on the MS coast, a wood sculpter created some beautiful masterpieces from the broken trunks. I tried taking pics once, but they all came out blurry.
Someone in our subdivision in Tulsa was sculpting a 20 ft long alligator in his front yard. He sold it.

And very well done. Someone put a lot of time sculpting it. I've been looking at all the tools, nuts, bolts, hinges, locks and other metal stuff that is shaped into tires, lights, steering wheel, etc.
I guess the big bone on top is it's crowning glory.

Re: Artwork on the Road
Scruffy and Tater, your post about the sculptures using broken tree trunks along the MS Gulf Coast reminded me that I had taken a photo of one of those scupltures. I was on the wrong side of highway 90 and didn't get a good shot. I took this photo because you had mentioned such sculptures when you responded to my post about staying in Bay St. Louis, MS. back in 2009.

Here's another photo of a piece of art at Hole in the Rock in Moab, Utah. The golfer is made from golf clubs. His legs are club shafts, and his upper torso is mostly club heads.

OK, I might as well do it. How can I not post a photo of a tribute to wine? This is a sand sculpture of happy wine grapes. I took this photo while attending an art and wine festival at Caryle Lake in Illinois last fall.

Your photo of the wood sculpture is much better than any of my blurry ones. Have you ever eaten at Shaggy's? We drive by there and wonder if it's any good.
The golfer looks like David Duval.
Is that supposed to be Bacchus x 12?
Good photos. Thanks.

Re: Artwork on the Road
We ate at Shaggy's twice while we were down there. It wasn't bad, pretty much standard bar and grill fare. They had outside seating with a good view of the boats coming and going in the marina. We enjoyed it.
Perhaps David Duval was the inspiration for the golfer.
Bacchus?? You made me do a google search for that one. I didn't even know there was a god of the grape harvest and wine. Thanks for the education.

Don't know where I learned that. Probably from watching too much TV in my younger days.
