Hydraulic oil leak.

Hydraulic oil leak.
The oil seems to be leaking right where the oil resevior meets the metal housing on the pump. Does anyone know if there is a gasget or something else that may be causing a leak there. I tightened the 4 bolts that hold the two together, it helped a little but it didn't stop it completely. Any suggestions......

Mike
Do a search on 'pump leak' on this forum, lakejumper had the same problem back in Oct 2008 and replaced the 'O' ring. Hope this helps. Jim

Bought the new O-ring today, $1.75!! I put everything back together and no leak. Gotta love an inexpensive fix! Thanks frdfan and Jim for your quick feed back. Thankfully we are not leaving until Friday and I had a chance to get it fixed!

Re: Hydraulic oil leak.
It has been an ongoing problem for us since 07, 2 repairs and 2 pumps replaced, the later was completely unnecessary as that was not the problem but was under warranty so whatever they want to do. It's just a minimal leak right now, if it worsens I'll do the same repair as you did.

Re: Hydraulic oil leak.
The hydraulic place where I bought the o-ring told me to take really fine sandpaper and go around the groove that the o-ring sits in just in case there might be a sharp edge or metal shaving that is damaging the ring, clean the groove really well, then oil the o-ring and plastic resevior and put back together. So far so good.
