Camping Again.

Post by Richard Mondavi on 7/24/2011, 12:39 am

Later this morning we are heading out to the Indian Creek COE campground at Mark Twain Lake in MO for four days. I just made the reservation last week so I think I was lucky that I managed to reserve a full hookup site. We are way overdue for a camping trip. The last time we had the Wildcat out was almost two months ago on Memorial Day. Our camping drought is finally ending.

GOOD NEWS….BAD NEWS. The good news is that I have an interagency senior pass that gets me 50% off camping fees at COE campgrounds. The bad news is that I have an interagency senior pass because I’m a senior (a.k.a. OLD).

Always nice to wake up on the sunny side. Much better than dirt. Laughing

One good thing about being "time challenged" is that we are all retired, and loving it. Every day is a new experience. Life is good. The goal is to extend the retirement phase for as long as you can, before you see the other side of the grass. clapper

We're back from Mark Twain Lake. Thank goodness the A/C worked perfectly, it was HOT!!! Very few campers were there but amazingly there were a couple of tent campers. Daytime heat index was over 105 degrees.
The horse flies were terrible, and the spiders and daddy long-legs were everywhere. I was constantly knocking down spider webs attached to the Wildcat. This was the worst invasion of insects I've ever experienced at a campground.
Tomorrow I'll be going out to the storage lot where we keep the Wildcat and setting off a bug fogger to make sure any hitch-hikers don't survive.
