Another Repair.

Post by Portagie1968 on 7/23/2011, 5:50 am

Finally got the money to do repair number 2 that FR should be paying for. Do not hold your breath. Anyway my dealer braced the floor so it is not a trampoline anymore after 5 days. Now we back to normal. Waiting this long has possibly created a ooops is this area. Floor squeaks where plywood possible comes together. After bending so much it appears flooring has come lose in one spot. Very live able but seeking knowledge from the greats one that come here. Do not want to drop belly again so I was wondering if anyone had a cure from up top thru the lino? Like I said it is live able but would be nice to cure some of it.

This is under the linoleum? For some reason I thought it was in the slide. Two different problems?

If it's in the slide there wouldn't be linoleum - or would there? If there is carpeting, you could pull up the carpeting and screw the thicknesses of plywood together in a few places. That might stop them from rubbing together.

If it's under linoleum (without carpet over that), I don't have any ideas at all. At least it's livable. Hope you find a solution.

Kitchen or in bath room area? Our squeaks right outside the toilet, found that FR used tongue and grove but the joint is floating and does not have any support. Love their carpenter skills!!!.

Ours is the same, it is livable, but it drive me crazy

Kitchen. That is why mine squeaks now. it was a floater until braced. In front of my toilet one piece of plywood is 1/4 inch higher then the other. Would like to tear out line to see how they did that one.

I would consider just removing the vinyl floor. Fix the problem and replace. I install this for a living. Would be happy to do it if you were close.
We are going to replace our vinyl floor already as DW droped a jar and cut a hole in it. I'm going to use LVT. "Luxury vinyl tile"
It will hold up well in a fiver.

When we bought our trailer, we found a sharp little bump in the kitchen vinyl. It was a screw or staple that was sticking up a bit. Our vinyl is a brick or stone pattern. The dealer cut out one square of the vinyl, removed the bump, and glued a new "brick" in it's place. It doesn't show, hasn't lifted or curled in 5 years - looks good. Our upstairs vinyl had a big deep scratch about 15 inches long. They removed and replaced the upstairs vinyl completely, putting quarter round all around to hold down the edges. Looks good, but could be better. Where it meets the metal strip, it started to curl, but Scruffy fixed that with some glue.

Andy,
I have seen pictures of mods where people removed the existing vinyl and replaced it with vinyl wood grain planks. It looks great! Never saw any follow up stories (like a year or so later) to see how it was holding up. Any thoughts on this?

Never hear of that stuff. No glue at all except for on the vinyl. I guess you glue the ends or hold them down by molding. DW would make me replace kitchen and bathroom.

We have the same kind Tater. That maybe the answer I need for the kitchen. Glued and seam sealed. To fix batroom it all have to come out. Be interesting to see how they did around the shower.

Quarter round around the shower. I'd have to look to see if the quarter round goes along the shower and along the sink cabinet in that little space that's between.

You'd have to be able to get matching vinyl.

When it's a little cooler, I'll go out and take a pic or two of the bathroom vinyl fix.

For a small fix in a visible area you might be able to cut out a piece from under the sink. Don't know how well that is glued down.
