champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
First topic message reminder :
Hi Its been several yrs since I posted on this site! I have been many miles and several trailers since then. I have a 2002 rkls fiver with a silverdo 6l gas engine to pull it ! I just got a new generator and thought I would share my observations! These are just my opinions and so you can judge for yourselves if you agree! Let me say I have 3 of the Champions with the Rv 30 amp plug-ins! My first was a pull start (its still running) and one electric key start, and now one remote start with a key fob ! My newest unit is a new completely redesigned with a delayed start up power that allows one to leave the rv plug in at all times and delayed power shutdown. It ran my duo therm 13,000btu air-conditioner and the microwave and the power center for the RV and the lites and a 20" tv vcr combo all at once very well! I think this a wonderful addition to any ones power needs!I sure does well for me. let me say that the sound level is not the quietest but not as lowed as many I have found in campgrounds. Yes It has many good features INMHO Just a fellow traveler see you later ;-)

You get what you pay for!! Also cheap gensets can be heard for miles. I get very upset when I'm near someone runing a genset you can hear everywhere you go. My genset is quiet and doesn't bother anyone, including me.

Went camping this weekend with my champion remote start!
OK I went to the lake this weekend with my champ. Funny you should mention the Honda! Well I put my champion in the back of my silverodo extended cab by the passenger side where they always go and parked it behind the my RKLS Wildcat and plugged it in! and there's a switch to turn off the battery turned it on and went into the fiver and hit the switch and yep the power came on after a few seconds of the Genny running up to speed. It shut down the same delayed way. so far so good ! There were two other campers next to me who had two 2000 hondas hooked together and they were quiet running but when their airconditoner came on the noise was about the same as my champ how do I know? i happened to take my db meter theirs read 81 at the highest point about 21' away and my champ red about 70 under a load! now I also noticed the other guy had a Honda 3000 and when the airconditoner was running at 21 feet it read about 70db also so you can see Its now a preference choice ! I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy one or the other . I'm just a camper who likes my champion! Ps I was watching a movie and there was a family that were in the overflow ( behind my trailer about 40' and were having their dinner and ask me to shut down my Genny so I did! The other guys let theirs run so go figure?! I try to be a good neighbor to all see you around!

Okay, so enough of the praises for your genny. We get the point. How about some posts about something else? Campground reviews, trip reports, DIYs, tow vehicles - lots of topics to choose from.

Must be a busy place to have so many generators in such a close proximity.

During my lifetime I have bought many "as good as" products and observed that they have been "as good as" but normally don't last as long and as someone else said, you get what you pay for. I remind myself of that when I am kicking myself for not anteing up the first time.
