champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
Hi Its been several yrs since I posted on this site! I have been many miles and several trailers since then. I have a 2002 rkls fiver with a silverdo 6l gas engine to pull it ! I just got a new generator and thought I would share my observations! These are just my opinions and so you can judge for yourselves if you agree! Let me say I have 3 of the Champions with the Rv 30 amp plug-ins! My first was a pull start (its still running) and one electric key start, and now one remote start with a key fob ! My newest unit is a new completely redesigned with a delayed start up power that allows one to leave the rv plug in at all times and delayed power shutdown. It ran my duo therm 13,000btu air-conditioner and the microwave and the power center for the RV and the lites and a 20" tv vcr combo all at once very well! I think this a wonderful addition to any ones power needs!I sure does well for me. let me say that the sound level is not the quietest but not as lowed as many I have found in campgrounds. Yes It has many good features INMHO Just a fellow traveler see you later ;-)

Re: champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
Welcome back to the forum from the U.K. I install super silent generators into welfare cabins for the construction industry. And I have installed and modified a couple that will start automatically when you plug some thing into a mains out let, like a kettle or microwave. I have also set them up with a battery monitor system that will also start the generator when the volts on the battery drop lower than the preset volts, and shuts down when, it reaches the state of being fully charged.

Re: champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
Been gone for awhile, just refound you guys. I bought a Champion 4000W w/pull start based on what I've read and it stalled the first time I turned on the AC (15000) so I took it back. I only had about 2 hours on it at the time. I'm still looking for a cheap reliable genny that will run the AC. Coach

Hi just a thought was there anything else on ? Hot water element back up, refrigerator on auto not gas? Those just kill the power because they use elements to heat! Try turning them off and see if you can start the ac! Also you might get a hard-start kit from supco spp6 It can make the start ups easier . PS if you do this I'm not responsible for the results! just a thought ;-) I think the new champion I have should do the trick for you though IMHO FELLOW TRAVELER PS I don't work for champion just like their generators!

Re: champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
The only thing that was on was the converter, fridge was on gas, hot water heater was on gas, started gen, waited about 5 min, turned on AC, engine stalled. Already took it back, store wasn't happy but they did take it back.

I believe you are a new member until you post a certain number of messages/replies. I don't know what the number is, though. I think most of us look at your registration date.

Sounds pretty cool! Wondering though, how noisy is it, and how do you keep it from running in the middle of the night?

Or we need to get a life! I really need to get out camping. But, right now I'm making drapes for our son and daughter-in-law's new house in California. When I get them finished, we will deliver..... but won't be taking the trailer.

They're pretty loud TC. My Dad has owned a champion for several years now. While not as loud as a regular contractor style generator, they are still very loud compared to the Yamaha and Honda inverters.
Much cheaper though and do the job well if you (and your neighbors) can deal with the volume.

Working for a company that has over 50 Honda 3000i, I can say they work quite well. We have tried other brands, including Yamaha, and found the Honda's to be the better overall choice. We run most of them 300+ days a year. They are exposed 100% of the time and often operate in a very dusty environment. I'm not sure how long they last before needing an overhaul or replacing, but it is thousands of hours.

Re: champion has a rv ready remote start generator #46538
OK , I don't knock Honda or Yamaha either one will do the same thing run your stuff! if you have a thousand or so by all means get one ! These Champions have come a long way to meet the RVers needs! I have camped next to some noisy Honda's when they are under a load ! PS there's a company called supergenproducts.com that have a gen tent for 4000/3000 generators. Yes I own one it does work to cut the noise about 5-8dbs. I try to be considerate to fellow campers and only use the Genny when I need it . I'm going to the lake tomorrow to boon-dock with my better half. She likes to have her hairdryer in the morning and use the microwave to heat stuff up ! Well I've said my thoughts take care and have a great camping season 89F tomorrow .

Fellow traveler, you seem very insistent that yours is the best. Why? What's in it for you? Are you really a salesperson for supergenproducts?

Fellow Traveler, I think you will find by perusing through older posts that when it comes to generators, they might as well be made by Ford, Chevy, or Dodge, cuz everybody's got their opinions. Shouldn't detract from the success you've had with your Champions though. As the old saying goes...if it ain't broke, don't try to reinvent it. Or something like that.

In case I was misunderstood, I was not knocking Champion generators. I have absolutely no experience with them. I was simply stating what has been my experience with Honda vs Yamaha vs.... some other brand I can't remember.
